It looked like this could end up being another surprise like the one Middlesbrough gave us yesterday, but a Marcos Alonso goal and a very late extra time penalty save by Kepa kept Chelsea on track and there was no surprise. But it is surprising how second and third division teams can play against these top level teams, who mind you are playing most of their first team, and make them have to put in double effort to win, and in MU's case lose.
Let's see, did Plymouth play so good they deserved to win or even take it to extra time? I don't think so, what I saw was Chelsea just not finishing what they started all the time, and they just let time pass, but I really didn't see complacency, I saw a lack of resources in top rate players, I frankly can't explain it, but they did play better than their rival so deserved to go through.
Now I have to say something, again referees are either biased and commit errors on purpose for whatever reason or they simply are useless, especially the VAR ones. Let's see in yesterdays game the Middlesbrough goal was a clear hand ball by the attacker, Ok ref didn't see it VAR didn't see it and yet all the pundits and I did? Today there was a clear penalty against Chelsea when the attacker was facing the keeper and a defender pulled his arm, again maybe the ref didn't see it, but if I saw it how come VAR didn't?
This VAR stuff is killing football, I saw a penalty given to Senegal overturned by VAR the goalkeeper didn't touch the ball and punched the attackers head, today Mallorca-Cadiz the goalkeeper punched the ball and was penalized with a penalty, pretty much the same play with different decision outcomes. Could it be these referees just don't know what they are doing?
Hello @gduran
It has been a while, I hope all is well?
No doubt about that, it was rather a fortunate incidence that kept them alive. As for United they are picking up small intems of the game plan and tactical cohesion just that it was not their day yesterday.
I hope they will make good use of their manager.
