South America - World Cup Qualifiers

We had another round of games in South America yesterday, 4 rounds played so far and Brazil and Argentina are looking good right now. These games qualify 4 teams to the World Cup in Qatar and the fifth place gets to play against another team from another confederation round robin to play for qualification. Ecuador is looking very good, so that really leaves in my opinion 4 teams that can pick up the other 2 spots - Colombia, Uruguay, Chile and Paraguay. So far Peru has been a disappointment and frankly Venezuela and Bolivia hardly ever have a chance, even though at least Venezuela is showing that it could come back.

As for yesterday's games the big surprise was Ecuador's 6-1 thrashing of Colombia, I didn't see that one coming even though I should have after seeing the way Colombia played against Uruguay. Another surprise to me was the Venezuelan win against Chile 2-1, surprising in that Chile is one of the stronger teams in South America with some players in top tier European teams. The other results were not so surprising everyone expects Brazil to do good even if it is away against Uruguay, and I expected Argentina to win against Peru, actually the tie between Paraguay and Bolivia was surprising too, I thought Paraguay would win that one.

The thing is that now the teams can play with the other's goal difference the bottom 4 have significant negative differences this is why I think that at least the bottom 3 are already out of the race, Colombia does have some great players so they could get out of this bump they are in.

Good summary and analysis. From what I see, outside of Brazil and Argentina, Ecuador is the team that has shown a better game. Ecuador is an excellent team, I think they play better than Brazil and Argentina.
For my country, Venezuela, the game he played against Chile seemed to me the one he should always show. In all their last encounters, the players had a losing attitude. He did not hold the ball even for 1 minute. Unusual. Against Chile, they changed the attitude to winners. I hope they continue like this for the next meetings next year. Difficult, but possible.

Greetings.

True!

I think that Brazil, Argentina and Ecuador are very good in points (almost classified)

Paraguay, Uruguay, Chile and Colombia will be looking for the 4th and 5th place.

I 'm Venezuelan and I think that the team started very badly and recovering points is very difficult but we can achieve 5th place if we don't lose any more games.

Yes, those two places will be the ones that will be the most complicated.
