What went wrong for Ghana in this AFCON tournament Outing. Is it the Coach? The player? The Ghana FA? Or what?

Good day guys, hope you are all doing well and hopefully Ghanians and chelsea woke up feeling good and forgetting about yesterday disappointment.
I wouldn't want to talk too much about chelsea on this post, because a lot has been said already and it's now obvious that they lack that consistency a team needs to win the premier league, especially against this Manchester city team, who looks quite unbeatable right now.
So let's talk about Ghana, what went wrong for them? They looked promising and confident coming to the tournament. Even the past record and achievement demands a lot from them, even if they won't win the tournament, at least they would qualify from the group stages against teams like Gabon(without Aubameyang), Comoros and Morocco.
The big test I can see here is the Morocco team, which they lost too in the opening game.
After the opening game lose, I and even every Ghanians or football lovers would expect them to pick up a convenient victory over the Gabonese team.
Seriously the drama in that Ghana vs Gabon match was really shocking and demeaning for the Ghanaian team. Not even the result or the type of goal the Gabon scored but the type of football the Ghanian team played, it was poor, no team work, no accurate pass, no ball movement just 11 individuals playing like strangers against each other. Then they managed to get a goal. Typical Ghanian style, they wanted to defend a sole goal with a bad defense.

The most shocking of their journey in this tournament was last night match against Comoros, who were just making their AFCON debut, they had no experience in that tournament. The fact that Ayew was so confident and sure that they would beat them and qualify in the press conference was one of the thing that made the lost more shocking and embarrassing.
Someone even said Comoros beat Ghana 2-0 and let them equalise back to 2-2, only to beat them 3-2 again. The look on the Ghanian players and fans face when they scored that third goal was really sad, but do you know who wasn't sad, the look on Ghanian coach face didn't show someone who cared whether they win or lose, that's why I don't fancy foreign coaches because they can never be passionate like the coach who is a citizen of that country, but it's unfortunate that our Africa FA now prefers foreign coaches to their indigenous coaches. I don't want to talk about this too much for now, I will have to make a post on this issue.

What went wrong or who was at fault?

Now to the big question. To me I feel the entire team and coaching staff with the FA most especially is at fault.

  • One the FA should have appointed a better coach, for example look at Nigeria, we appointed a new coach just few weeks to the tournament because everyone knew and has been complaining that the formal coach wasn't tactical and competent enough to ginger the player to victory. Look at how impressive the coach and the team is doing now.

  • The coaching team, it's quite obvious that coach was clueless and lacked tactics. The team was just playing anyhow without any clear game plan, all they had was individual talent and physical strength, and that doesn't win you games in today's football. The coach wasn't even passionate whether they win or lose, a good coach should be able to ginger and keep his players on their toes till the final whistle.

  • The players on the other hand could have done better in terms of performance, attitude, we all know what they play in their big clubs in europe, and we all know how they act, they dare not act that way to referee after matches. With their level of experience, they should be able to bring themselves together and work out a way when things aren't working well.

At the end of the day, their tournament ends here, hopefully they will go back to the drawing board and discuss what went wrong and figure a solution as a team.

That's funny 😄 😄 right? The fact is there is no correlation and coordination between the players and as you said "just 11 individuals playing like strangers against each other". That was the problem. They should go home are organized themselves.

Thanks for sharing.

The problem facing Ghana football is far beyond this..there is no way can win any tournament with this attitude
