Hello Friends,
https://peakd.com/splinterlands/@splinterlands/share-your-battle-weekly-challenge-flamesmith
How are you all doing? It's been about a month since I last posted on Hive and happy to be back to blogging with this Splinterlands Weekly Contest post.
We have this week's monster which is the first Dice category monster and that is Flamesmith and here are the details for the same.
As we can see above, this monster is with 7 MANA cost and starts with 2 ranged attack and can go up to 4 by maximum level.
As for as speed is concerned, it goes side by side of attack as it starts with 2 and can be a maximum of 4.
Another good thing about this monster is, it has a constant single armor throughout the 10 levels.
It's health starts at 4 and can be a max of 6.
This monster has 2 awesome abilities in shatter and repair.
Shatter as we know, shatters couple of armors if any from the monster it attacks and good thing is, this ability is available from level 1 itself!!!!!
Second ability Repair is another nice one to have for this monster which does the reverse of what it's other ability does, i.e. restoring the armors for one of the friendly monster whose armors got reduced/removed.
Battle and Lineup:
https://splinterlands.com/?p=battle&id=9013275eeda35bb73083628722a3b5f4f3b5adc4
As we can see above, this battle was with 44 MANA cap and rulesets were Target Practice(magic and ranged monsters attacking magic and ranged monsters from second line from opponent) and Lost Legendaries(can't use Legendary monsters 😕 )
Based on the battle scenarios, I used the monsters as mentioned below.
Lineup:
1. Living Lava:
Since this is a Target Practice battle, we can anticipate that, most of the attack will be towards second line targeting magic and ranged attack monsters and keeping that in mind, I thought of using this monster which is with armors and also has shield ability to get lesser damage from melee and ranged attack monsters.
2. Gelatinous Cube:
Target Practice battle means, this has to be used since it's a self healing monster which has 13 health to start with.
3. Prismatic Energy:
Same reason as mentioned above as it has good speed and can attack with 2 magic attack in each round.
4. Beetle Queen:
Used it for 2 main reasons, it gives a 2 magic attack and can also heal the front monster.
5. Flamesmith:
Theme monster for this week, can shatter the armors from opponent's monsters besides giving 2 useful ranged attack.
6. Ettin Spearman:
Used this for it's high ranged attack capability of 4 and also can last longer since it has 9 health. It's pierce ability is particularly helpful as it can pierce thru armors and reduce health of the monster it attacks.
Opponent used monsters Nectar Queen, Flesh Golem, Javelin Thrower, Prismatic Energy, Mushroom Seer and Wood Nymph.
Battle:
Round 1:
OK, here goes the battle I fought for this contest and just wanted to mention that, opponent used Prince Rennyn summoner to boost the health, ranged attack and speed as well for the monsters he used but he used just a single ranged attack monster.
Usage of Gelatinous Cube helped me to evade my other ranged and magic monsters getting exposed early as it took all the attack for Target Practice battle yet healed itself to survive this round while opponent lost his first monster in the form of Javelin Thrower, the only ranged attack monster he used.
Round 2:
The joy for Gelatinous Cube didn't last longer as he was taken down by the magic monsters opponent had used and it was the only monster to get removed in this round with Prismatic Energy being the next one to be targeted from both lineups.
Round 3:
The trend of removing one monster in each round continued as opponent's Prismatic Energy was next to be removed in this round, courtesy of 2 ranged attack monsters I used.
Round 4:
The trend has to change as we witnessed 2 of infact the last 2 magic monsters from opponent's lineup got wiped out in this round.
With that, it was just Nectar Queen and Flesh Golem remaining for him.
Round 5:
Nectar Queen was the target of all the monsters I used since all the *magic and ranged attack monsters from opponent's lineup got removed in previous rounds and Target Practice was accomplished!!
Round 6 and 7:
Prismatic Energy from my lineup had last breath after it was poisoned by Mushroom Seer in Fourth round. Flesh Golem although evaded an attack from Living Lava to survive in round 6, couldn't survive the combined attack in round 7 and that was the end of this battle!!!!
Questions and Answers:
That was an interesting battle although I felt, opponent used wrong summoner or didn't use monsters as per summoner's strength. Let's go thru the questions and answers.
Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?
Well, after seeing Prince Rennyn Summoner on opponent's side, I had doubts, but after seeing his lineup, I felt I have a chance and my monsters were better as against opponent's and gave an easy win.
I couldn't have used any better lineup for this battle as the monsters I used were good enough to pull a win for me, but I also felt, opponent's usage of Flesh Golem in Second position was something a drawback for him.
Do you like the FLAMESMITH? Why or why not?
Certainly, it's Shatter ability will be very handy when armors on* battle or against a lineup consisting of monsters with armors.
That was a nice battle and I hope you just enjoyed my blog on the same battle and I am happy that I am back to blogging on Hive again after a month's time :)
Thanks and wishing you all a great Monday and a nice week ahead :)
