Hello to the community,
#steem-atlas; the newest trend and one of the biggest projects on the Steemit platform. Steem Atlas offers an innovative database of Steemit posts, which are especially focused on specific places.
All the cool destinations and locations around the world with a detailed experience in one place? Who doesn't love that, right? Well, I know we have a long way to go. So, let's gather around to make it bigger. I especially invite my Sri Lankan friends to enrich this world map with amazing destinations on our beautiful island. It's not just putting posts there, but one day this will reach the outer community as a promotion tool, for sure.
Made by Canva with my own images
This project was initiated by @pennsif, and it already has a collection of 40,000+ posts, majority from the old steemit posts. So, now it's our turn to attract more users and contribute to its growth. And I am excited to say that, I have been chosen as one of the Atlas Ambassadors, especially to promote, guide, and help Sri Lankan members.
So, as you can see, it has a simple yet eye-catching and user-friendly interface, showing added posts. We have the search option by location/ user/ tag.
What can you publish?
Well, as I said the Steem Atlas is primarily location based. It doesn't need to be a high-level tourist attraction, but may be a small restuarent/ a temple/ a shopping mall you are dealing with regularly, or your school, or maybe your business place etc.
We are looking for the correct location, quality images, details and useful information about that specific place.
You can write about,
- Tourist attractions
- Holiday destinations
- Mountains, rivers & lakes
- Museums & galleries
- Theatres
- Sports venues & stadiums
- Zoos, animal sanctuaries & wildlife parks
- Churches, temples & places of worship
- restaurants, cafes, bars & any type of eating place
- Shops & shopping malls
- Universities, colleges & schools, etc
But the posts must be,
- about that specific place
- AI and Plagiarism free
- with your own images
How to post on Steem Atlas?
Now to the most important part! Well, don't worry guys, the task is quite simple. You can either create the post via the Steem Atlas website itself, or from from steemit.com.
I will guide you have to add the location to the map, via Steemit, as it's more comfortable with everyone.
- First create your post on the platform in any community/ your own blog.
I will show you how to add Yudaganawa Temple in to the map.
Then head to the website, https://steematlas.com/.
Search your location on the bar, to find the exact location.
You must type the words correctly here. Anyway, if you can't find that place on the map, zoom it, and you can locate the place manually.
- Then in the top right corner, there's an option called, Embed Pin, click it.
This is the most important step in creating the pin. Then a window will pop in the bottom, as below.
- Now you select the location. Then a new window will pop up at the bottom.
Be mindful of the accuracy of the location. You can double check it with the Google Maps if needed to verify.
- After selecting the location, add a description to the pin, as below. The place of the name is enough; No need of the title of your post.
- Then copy pin code, and add it to the end of your post. Then publish your post.
The code won't show in your post, but it will help automatically to embed your in the specific location.
- In a few moment, your post will be added to the website just like below.
- Make sure to add #steem-atla #travel tags, for the better exposure to the curators.
What will you receive?
Well, it's not just adding your posts in the website. You will receive handy rewards from Pensif, and currently from the steecurator03 account as well. If you can feature in the best post of the week, it will be handy as well. 😋😎
What about the older posts
Well, I know there are many older posts that you can add. You just have to copy the pin code of the location as above, and update the posts with that code.
Remember to leave a comment like below to receive a vote.
Or else you can make a new compilation post with all of your posts, like this, after adding them to the map.
I hope you get the idea, and invite you all to contribute to this initiative.
