Crafty Content | First Try into Cross Stitch

Hello everyone..! Today I am going to tell you about my first cross stitch try which came out very well.

My best friend’s birthday was on the last month and I wanted to give her something unique and handmade because she loves handmade gifts. So I decided to make a cross stitch for her. I have been wanting to try cross stitch for a long time but I couldn’t do because it was very time consuming work.

First I chose a beautiful picture with two babies with a heart to cross stitch and printed that in a paper to make my work easy. Then I wanted to buy the things needed for my work; a piece of fabric, a needle and threads.

The fabric which is used to cross stitch is called aida fabric. It is harder than the usual fabric we use in sewing and has small rectangular holes in it. There are different colors of aida fabric, but I bought a white one. A needle with a bigger hole to put the thread is used in cross stitch.

Also I bought stranded cotton threads in different appropriate colors.

Usually a cross stitch should start from the middle of the picture. There are many ways to cross stitch, but I usually complete a single stitch at once because I think that is very neat. You can do half stitches of a row first and then complete the other halves if you like.

This is how my cross stitch looked at the very beginning.

Actually cross stitching is not difficult if you have patience. It seems to be hard at the beginning, but you will love it after you discover your own rhythm of it.

How it progressed step by step

After a month’s hard work it came out very nice making my effort fruitful and I surprised my friend on her birthday with this gift.
