Hello Steemers,
Last week finished the epic clash between Australia and India in Border Gavaskar trophy. This marked the new epic rivalry between Australia and India, with both teams being giants of the cricketing world. The cricketing world has seen big clashes between nations over time, Australia vs. England, India vs. Sri Lanka, and India vs. Pakistan. During the early 1990s and 2000s, these rivalries were at their peak, but times changed everything.
Modern cricket has created new rivalries with India's dominance. It's now all about money. Among all the rivalries, the Indo-Pakistan rivalry has expired due to the weak performance of the Pakistan Cricket Board. India has consistently won the clash between the two. However, the hype remains due to internal and political issues, and these matches still hold a big market in the cricketing world.
England-Australia clashes are always epic, and the thrill is still present, especially in the Ashes series, but not like the late 1990s and early 2000s. The older generation still loves Test cricket, but the modern, commercialized market prefers shorter formats of the game, with matches now reduced to as few as 10 overs. In this culture, it is very hard to maintain players' consistency. Since 2015, Sri Lanka has struggled to produce any big players for the cricketing world, relying instead on existing players who often fail to deliver.
Sri Lanka and Bangladesh matches have created new hype in the cricketing world. With the downfall of Sri Lankan cricket, these matches have become more competitive. During childhood, we didn’t watch these matches because the outcomes were predictable, with Sri Lanka winning by a large margin. Now, they have gained attention in the cricketing world.
Last week ends the epic clash between Australia and India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-2025. This series created a new chapter in the rivalry between these cricketing nations, with both teams shows their dominance in the modern cricketing world. The series was filled with heated arguments and fights. A highlighted aspect of this series was the failure of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to perform.
These are the modern-day clashes of the cricketing world. Let’s hope people continue to follow real cricket apart from the commercialized formats.
Thank you!
