Most of smartphones have this '5G' naming. Yeah yeah.. they are 5G Capable Smartphones. And what's this '5G'?? Let's Find out..

5G is the 5th of the wireless communication technology. So, talking about History..

First Generation means the start of mobile phones. It happened in 1980s. Only voice calls available. Then 2G, the second generation introduced in 1990s. It made MMS possible. Later 2G devices such as iPhone 1 had the ability to connect to internet. The Speed was up to 40kbps. Then 3G came in 2006. The Internet speed 50 times faster than 2G. As you all remember 4G was introduced in 2014. It was 50-200 times faster than 3G.Most of Mobile phones are running on this technology. 4G is enough to give us the multimedia experience we need such as,

Playing Online Games With Friends

Download things you want over 10 mbps speed

That's enough for us right?? It can be enough for us but not for the world. It's not enough for Big Companies. We are not living in a society that we are made for. You Know, people gotta do big things. They have to try to do impossible. And that's how 5G born.

You know, all 3G, 4G, 5G are Electro-Magnetic waves. In order to maximize the speed, Frequency has to be maximized. So that there is a 5G Spectrum. And it's a wide range of frequency. That's why it has been divided for three sections.

Low-band 5G

Mid-band 5G

High-band 5G (mmWave)

Talking about frequency, it's a biig story. When frequency gets high, wavelength gets low. Wavelength is a main factor in coverage.

Let's talk about FM Waves for a minute. The frequency is in Megahertz. It's 100 times lower than 5G signals. So that the wavelength is bigger like 2-10 meters. Because of That Radio waves goes through barriers such as Buildings, Trees, Small Mountains easily. And the range of Radio Waves are way bigger like 300 miles. So, the opposite happens in 5G.

Microwaves are also a kind of mmWaves😅. But a microwave oven doesn't cook what's around it. Only the things inside. See, microwaves can't escape the barriers in walls of the oven.

Wavelength in 5G waves are in centimeters and millimeters. So, they are small. Ability to go through barriers are so low. So that coverage of each 5G sub sections increase like this.
When frequency increases, network speed increases. And those speeds increase like this.

Why 5G?

You know, technology is all about breaking barriers and creating new possibilities. Through 5G, people was able to fulfilled some of needs which they unable to do before.

Remote Surgery from Long Distance Will be Possible

Imagine a doctor in needed to do an emergency surgery but the doctor is miles away. But if the doctor has equipment to do a remote surgery, it's possible to do. The ping (The Latency) is so low and that make like it's Realtime.

Imagine you have a self-driving car. When you are travelling if your car doesn't know where the other vehicles are, accidents can be happened. You can be caught up in a traffic. If all the cars in the area you're in are connected to each other, all cars can identify where the cars around you are going. It requires High Speed Internet and 5G can supply it. So no accidents. Also you will be able to avoid traffic too.

Still, there are barriers for 5G. But I think America is partially 5G covered thanks to AT&T, Verizon etc. Each and every new technologies have faced some kind of problems. So is 5G. I think man will come up with a better solution sooner.

In early 2020, 5G smartphones was so expensive like 1500$. Then VIVO CEO said that there will be 5G capable smartphones for 215$ at the end of the year. And that has become true😍.
