Arcanic Vengance (Piecemaker Tourney) [Finished]:

Basics:

  • Post your pieces on this forum
  • Participants may create up to 4 minions and 4 champions.
  • You must submit at least one piece to join
  • Participants must vote during the voting period.
  • You must complete either one of the challenges or one of the bonus challenges to be eligible
  • All pieces must be Arcane type

Timescale:

  • Posting is between October 2 ~ October 14
  • Voting is between October 15 ~ October 19

Voting:

  • There will be 5 categories in voting by which pieces will be given points:
    • Creativity (How unique/interesting is the idea behind the piece) [This will be rated out of 5]
    • Theme/Meta (How well does the piece fit its name) [This will be rated out of 3]
    • Execution (How well designed/balanced is the piece) [This will be out of 7]
    • Bonus (This will award 2 points if the piece meets one of the bonus challenges and one of the normal challenges) [If only the bonus challenges are met, this is only worth 1 point]
    • Sorcerize (This is negative points for pieces that are just beyond horrible I.e pieces that make no sense or where you can't see the moves) [This will be rated out of -5]
  • If there is a tie then the players who tied will split their prize, also ties are first split by the number of challenges beaten.

Challenges:

  • Challenges:
    1. Create a piece that does not block movement
    2. Create a piece with (Unblockable) Move, Attack, or swap places with ally.
    3. Create a piece with (Magic)
    4. Create a piece that dies upon attacking. E.g Bomber or Fireball
  • Bonus Challenges:
    1. Create a piece with non-offensive magic ( E.g Freeze or Wind)
    2. Create a piece with non-linear moves (E.g Knight moves or Angel Moves, they don't have a linear path that can be drawn to the starting point)
    3. Create a piece with Mage in the name
    4. Create a piece that is immune to status effects

Rewards:

  • The Top 3 Minions will win:
    1. 1st Place will win 80 RP and 20 crowns
    2. 2nd Place will win 50 RP and 10 crowns
    3. 3rd Place will win 20 RP and 5 crowns
  • The Top 3 Champions will win:
    1. 1st Place will win 80 RP and 20 crowns
    2. 2nd Place will win 50 RP and 10 crowns
    3. 3rd Place will win 20 RP and 5 crowns
  • If people offer to donate RP for the tournament or if I get more Crowns I will increase the tournament pool

BoostMage, a Champion with non-offensive magic (Champion #1)

It can boost units toward the other side of the field relative to the unit's position, and it can be used to push enemies in your side of the field away from you.

It's an ethereal goblin with a powerful teleport.

Boost mage passes the challenge for magic and the non-offensive bonus magic challenge. Ethereal Goblin passes the does not block movement challenge and the non-linear moevement bonus. Arcanist passes the unblockable move/attack/swap challenge and the non-linear movement bonus challenge. And Soulfire passes the magic challenge and the status immune bonus challenge all as you surmised.

alright, yeah forgot I made soulfire status immune (it should be as it's just a wisp of soul fire) but yeah these units should get 2 bonus score points

In the turn after its death the Phantom looks transparent (most likely infront of an enemy unit). While that its passive still works, but not its normal teleport-squares. While that it can't be targeted and the unit "behind" it can be targeted normally. After the turn it expires if it doesn't use its after death teleport. If it uses its after death teleport, the phantom gets alife and looks semi-transparant, like a nulled unit .

The Champion on ability target gets bonus mobility independant of its colour. E.g. on 0-tier the Champion on ability target can additionally move or attack like a Knight,if the Phantom is alife and like a Zebra in the turn after phantoms death.

Edit: The teleport after death is supposed to reduce the Value to 0 at all ranks.

  • Phrasing is like butterfly, if afterimage+ is revived it will still be afterimage+. Other attributes (e.g. does it reappear if poisoned) will work the same as butterfly.
  • Satisfies both a normal and bonus challenge ;)

For some clarity, 'abilities' include moving, attacking, etc. in addition to magic, ranged, etc. We just mask out all squares besides the 8 king move-adjacent squares for a unit.

Disappointed you didn't make midas instead of a gold mage but yes it passes the challenge for magic and the bonus challenge for mage

I thought of Midas, but I feel like for Midas the effect should be a (trigger), I think I gotta do Midas in #custom-pieces.
Also Imo Midas doesn't fit the Arcane fantasy quite well.

Yeah, it was mainly just a joke since you were doing so many gilded piece things, but one thing to consider is if I've already done a forest tourney, and I'm doing an arcane tourney perhaps soon there will be a tourney that midas could fit into.

Professor passes the challenge for having magic, and the bonus challenge for having non-linear moves. Student passes the challenge for having unblockable swap/attack/move and the bonus challenge for having non-linear moves. Pestilence passes the same challenges as professor. High mage passes the challenge for having magic and the bonus challenge for having mage in the name. Reality Mage passes the same challenges as high mage.

Not to nitpick, but "i.e." means "in other words"; "e.g." means "for example" -- so the above quote is currently saying that the piece needs to effectively be Bomber or Fireball, not that you're using Bomber and Fireball as examples (i.e., you should replace all of them with "e.g.").

I'll fix this, but I don't think anyone really cares since it's common sense to be able to figure out what I mean by that. Obviously in a creative tourney I don't want people to just reskin units.

Challenge 2 is significantly easier than 4 likewise bonus challenges 2 and 3 are much easier than 1 and 4. Is this intentional?

Upon your note of this I changed the rules, now ties are first split by who beat the most challenges. Though unless a tie comes up I won't mention the number of challenges each unit beat besides the first normal and bonus.
