Hello everyone am happy to be back again. I really appreciate those who supported my last post which was introduction to skill acquisition thank you all.

It is my pleasure to continue with the post of today which is The Methods of Acquiring Skills. Thank you as you read.
As we have all known that skill acquisition is the process of learning, acquiring and mastering a particular skill. Having known the meaning of skill acquisition, it is very important to know the method of acquiring your desired skill or skills.
Before choosing a particular skill, there are certain things you need to put into consideration and they include:
Think: Yes, before you choose a skill, you first have to sit down and think on skills that can be of benefit to you. You must think on skills that people consider useful, this can be of great advantage to you.
Make a list: You have to list down the skills you may like to learn. Things that will help you in listing down your skills is; those things that interest you and you will likely want to learn it or learn them no matter what.
Make Reasonable Calculations: Before you choose a particular skill, you have to calculate the time that will be taken in acquiring the skill and how much time you are willing to give in acquiring the skill. You don't have to choose a very difficult skill hoping you will learn when you don't have enough time to invest, this will only make you to end up in abandoning the skill. To avoid that, you must make reasonable calculations of your time.
Focus: To focus means to concentrate. You must concentrate on a particular skill and not trying to learn many skills at a time. When you are doing so, I will only make you to be master of none of the skills. Is not as if is wrong to learn multiple skills but you take one step at a time in order to eliminate distraction and getting affected by your skill acquisition process.
Know the fundamental of your skill: Whatever skill you want to acquire, you must know the basis of the skill. You can start by reading articles associated with the skill, it will give you glue or the basic knowledge you need about the skill.
Select your Desired Platform: You have to choose a platform that suits you. You check the platform that you can cope with and learn more easier and faster.
Get a Mentor: Whatever skill you want to acquire, there are people who have acquired it before you. Look for those who are already experts in that area and get tutored by them. When the task becomes difficult or when you are stuck at a point by so doing, you will scale through.
There are different ways of acquiring a skill and they include but not limited to:
- Playing
- Paying attention
- Seek for a training (Apprenticeship)
- Pairing together
- School
Yes it sounds funny and strange how skills can be acquired by playing, but the truth is that skills can be acquired by playing.
Play is a means of getting fun, engaging in activities for the purpose of recreation. It is the first initiated activity engage by any person. As a child grow, he/she develops mental strength and ability by playing. By playing, you learn more difficult skills.
Playing is the natural way of acquiring a skill and it doesn't just end with childhood but continues to adulthood. There are two methods of acquiring skills by playing:
1 Outward play: This is the physical play where one has to practice his hands. By constant and continuous practice, one can easily master a particular skill.
2 Inward play: This is a type of play where you don't need to practice physically with your hands but rather you play within your brain or your head.
Paying attention is the ability to listen, concentrate, focus and ready to learn. Listening does not just end in words. Yes you learn by listening to words but you can learn better when those words are combined with sound; as in music. Music has a natural way of refreshing the mind and soul. Tunes, rhymes from music registers faster in the brain. To learn and master a skill very fast, listen to words in combination with music.
Seeking for training or apprenticeship is the act of being under someone to get trained. The person or group of people who needs to acquire a skill is known as an apprentice. The apprentice is nurtured and trained for some period of time under his/her master. This period of time is not always an easy time for the apprentice and his master because they both have a lot of sacrifices to make and therefore is always a challenging period. If the master is such a one who has an integrity to uphold and wouldn't want to raise an apprentice who will compromise the standard, it would be an advantage to the apprentice if he is willing to learn but if otherwise, it would be so challenging as the apprentice would have to go extra miles and give extra time in order to achieve his desired skill.
A colloquial states that a "tree cannot make a forest". You can't know it all by yourself therefore, you need to mingle. Relate with friends, relate with people who are in the same field with you, relate with people who have better experience than you and also relate with people who are on the same level with you.
From these categories of people mentioned above, you have different things to learn from them. Be sociable and don't be an island because nobody is.
Develop a team spirit and always be ready to learn when working as a team or group of persons. Don't always think that your idea is the best and you don't need opinion from others, it will only lead you into becoming a failure but when you relate well with people and colleagues, you see yourself learning and improving everyday as a saying rightly states: "learning never ends".
School is a place of formal learning. Aside apprenticeship, school is another means of acquiring a skill.
In apprenticeship, many apprentice learn only from one master. That means that the apprentices are only entitled to the skill, knowledge and training of one master.
The reverse is the case with school. People who wants to acquire skills are grouped into different categories known as classes.
The group of people in the classes are either called pupils, students or scholars while those who train them are called either teachers, lecturers or professors.
The student have the privilege and opportunity of learning from different masters thereby learning and developing different abilities because he/she has different masters. It has an advantage over apprenticeship because the apprentice can only become a master but a student can become both master, graduate and a professors.
In conclusion, there are many ways and different methods of acquiring a skill; but in choosing whatever method, adequate care must be taken as it determines your future.
Nevertheless, all these methods discussed above works hand in hand in ensuring that you become an expert which will make you needed and valuable. When you become useful and valuable, you become free from financial instability, you become financially powerful and financially secured.
