Do you know what ruins our life the most? It's counting the missing parts! We often spend a great portion of our life focusing on what we want but don't have, instead of what we need and have.
That's exactly why someone can have 100x of whatever you have, but he might not be happy while you are, it has to do with the amount of gratitude you have in your heart and mind.
I always remind myself of this, because I know that there are people who have much less than I have, maybe they're much less able than I am, but still they're happier than me, and I'm sure we've all seen examples for this basic principle.
Someone might feel super happy for being able to get a loaf of bread today, but the other is so angry because he ran out of ketchup, that's life.
Jim Rohn always mentioned the importance of having a grateful mindset and he said:
"Gratefulness is one of the most powerful emotions you can cultivate, and it has the ability to transform your life in ways you can't even imagine."
He also added:
"When you focus on what you're grateful for, you shift your attention away from what's missing in your life, and toward what's already good."
Misery comes from counting and focusing on what we don't have, no matter how frivolous these things might be, and happiness comes from feeling grateful for what you have, and knowing that you're richer, healthier, and more secure than millions of other people.
A grateful mind and a thankful heart make a happy life.
