Hello everyone , I hope you all are doing good . Today, I want to share with you my story of how I switched from wanting to become a doctor to choosing computer science. Let me start by saying I didn’t switch because computer science has a lot of scope, or because everyone these days is choosing this field because of its demand. My reason was completely different.
Since childhood, I had a deep interest in science. My passion for science subjects was entirely different compared to other subjects. I had already decided as a child that I wanted to become a doctor, no matter what. But then, at one point, I changed my decision, and the reason behind it was games.
In 2012, we got a computer at home, and the happiness of having it was on another level. Back then, it wasn’t something common, especially in Pakistan, where not every household had a computer. At that time, I had no idea what this machine could do or not do. The first thing I learned was how to operate it, and the first thing I learned to do on it was painting because that’s what we were taught in school. At that time, I thought that’s all you could do on a computer.
Later, as I grew older, I found games to be the most interesting thing about computers. I started playing games like GTA Vice City, which became my favorite at the time. Along with that, I played games like American Formula Racing Car, Counter-Strike, and many others (if I started listing them all, the list would get too long). While playing these games, I started wondering how they were made, what the process was to develop them. That’s when my interest in this field began to grow.
Eventually, I decided to choose computer science because I wanted to work in a field that involved critical thinking, logic building, and made you think deeply. At that time, computer science seemed like the best option. Now, I’m on my way to achieving what I decided as a child. I still have a passion for developing games, and someday, I’ll definitely build at least one game so that the reason I entered this field is fulfilled, and my heart is at peace.
This was just a little story of mine that I thought I’d share with you all. Thank you!
