Social media have come to stay for real. But how are we making use of it. For good or for bad,it all depends on how we view it. So I would want to talk about social media and it's impact on our mental health.
Social medias impact on our mental health is really a big deal if I may say,and we need talk about it before it gets out of hand. You know it's not just scrolling through our feeds and comparing our lives to others. It's about how that constant comparison can make us feel inadequate, unhappy and feeling of being miserable. But let's be real here, who hasn't felt that way at some point? I guess we all have as we are all Humans.
The thing is,too much social media use have been linked to some serious mental health issues such as depression, loneliness and anxiety and the reason behind it is not far fetched. When are constantly bombarded with highlighted reels,it becomes easy for us to feel like we just don't measure up not to talk about the cyber bullying.
Now there's also the sleep thing where we keep scrolling through our feeds before bed and we begin to wonder why we can't wind down. It's just because of the blue lights and it's messing with our melatonin which has made it even harder for us to get the rest we need.
Though I am not saying that social media is all bad,it has its good sides but we have to be mindful of how we are making use of it as we make sure that we are not sacrificing our mental health in the process. We are advised to take breaks, focus on real-life relationships and also practice some good old-fashioned self-care. And I believe if we can do this,we can be fine along the way.
In conclusion,I would want us to make a deal, let's just be kind to ourselves as we take social media for what it is, it's a tool and not a substitute for real life. Let's also take care of our minds and our hearts and we must remember that we are much more than our online personas. Are we good on this?
Thanks for your time.
