Hello, how are you all? I hope everyone is doing well. The way time passes surprises me; days pass by like hours. Today marks the 6th week of our FYP, and we have had 3 meetings so far, just like that, the third meeting took place yesterday. For every meeting, each group is given a task or milestone to present in the next meeting. FYP doesn’t just mean making a good project; it means learning because it’s not necessary that what you are doing in the FYP is something you already know. Some things have to be learned from time to time. Similarly, we are also learning and working alongside.
Our next milestone was almost done, but we got stuck because of an error. One of the group members had found the solution, but no one understood what she meant, so due to miscommunication, we didn’t pay attention to what she said, and just like that, the meeting day arrived. We went and told the advisor that our work was done, but there was an error in one thing. He told us to sit and try it right there. So, that same group member said again that we could solve it this way, and then we understood what she meant and that she was right. We did exactly what she said, and the error was resolved. We asked the advisor if we could do it this way, and he said, yes, you absolutely can, so our milestone was completed.
When working in a group, it is necessary to have understanding, communication skills, and the ability to express yourself so others listen. It’s not just about four people coming, working, and finishing. You can also get angry with each other, and arguments happen due to communication gaps. You just need to handle things patiently throughout the journey because this is where your learning happens.
You learn teamwork. It’s not just about technical skills but also about problem-solving, communication, time management, and much more. This is what FYP teaches you.
That was a great thing I learned from here. Discussing always gives a Solution. Thanks for that, Fiza. Stay blessed.
