What is mother language

Mother language is the way a child learns to interact with their very first connection(their parents and siblings) and it is a general language/communication method that a child use. Take an example of a deaf and dumb child who's parents has capability to listen and speak things like other people but for that child they would have some different mechanism of talking. They might need some signs to understand what their child want at certain time.

And sometimes expressions are just enough. Child with the mental disabilities also have their own special way of interacting with their parents.

Their parents need to be more patience while communication and also leave room for listening and understanding more often then making them understand.

What mother language is not?

As the worldly phrase suggests, Mother language is not the language of the mother, it might be the language that is often spoke by majority in the surroundings of the child. For example; a Sindhi girl who got to married into an Urdu speaking family, that girl's children will have Urdu as their mother language and not Sindhi because her mother used to speak Sindhi in her home before marriage.

My mother language

I belong to a small town in City Mianwali, here usually people speak Saraiki and i am also one of those people. This is the first language that I learnt to speak. This language is used by around 18% of the people here in pakistan.

This language has many different Dialects spoken overall, they vary from area to area in all the provinces. There are five very commonly known Dialects spoken by Saraiki's these include:

• Multani Saraiki
• Rajanpuri Saraiki
• Sindhi Saraiki
• Thali Saraiki
• Majhi Saraiki

The one that i speak is the Thali Saraiki and I'm proficient in speaking this language apart from Thali I have an exposure to Majhi and Sindhi Saraiki as well. Here in Pakistan majority of the Folk music and produced using Saraiki language which is making it the most popular language spoken so far. It is said about Saraiki: سرائیکی زبان بڑی مٹھی زبان ہے :D
