Arise o compatriot,Nigeria call obey.
If you've ever heard or recite this statement over and over again then you are probably a Nigerian, in Nigeria, perhaps dealing with a Nigerian or doing something related to Nigeria because it is actually the first line in our national anthem.
Am Nigerian and am proud of my country. Nigeria is fondly called the giant of Africa and that is because it stands tall among the African countries.Another thing I will love us to know about my country is our Coat of Arm which is very symbolic

The black sheild coupled with the wreath over it stands for our fertile land. The white horse signifies dignity and the red eagle you see there signifies strength, the "Y" shape there stands for the two main river we have in our country which are river Niger and river Benue. The flower positioned at the foot of the sheild represent the beauty of our country and the inscription "unity and faith, peace and progress" is our motto.

Saying I love my country will be an understatement. If there is a word greater than love,I would have used it to describe what I have for my country. I am not part of those that would love to exit this country without ever coming back. Never! I think I have a different mindset as regards that general opinion of most Nigerians.
Nigeria is my home,my father's land, no where on planet earth will feel Iike home, even if I travel out of my country for holiday I would still find my way back because of some of the fascinating things I will be sharing in this post. Let's me quickly share with us the reasons why I love my couuntry
- Our Food/Delicacy
Nigeria is a country blessed with very fertile land and a very large land mass which we use in cultivating the land and producing all manner of farm produce which serves as our food here. Since our country is divided into four regions namely ;
- North
- East
- South
- West
We all have our peculiar food that is so rich and nutritious just as seen below.

Food is one thing we don't really joke with in this part of the world and that is why every child especially the female child is being shown how to prepare these delicacies in order to preserve our cultural heritage.
- The People & Culture
Nigerians are very good people. We are very accommodating. We welcome all people from every part of the world. And as the saying goes charity begins at home yes it is true with we Nigerians, we are united and bonded together in love.
The People in the different regions I mentioned earlier accomodates one another. Am a perfect example in this aspect. I left my place in the south western part where the Yoruba dwell to the northern part where the Hausa dwell and I was welcomes with open arms.
Lest I forget there are three major tribe in Nigeria,Every other is classified under these three. The tribes are;
- Igbo
- Hausa
- Yoruba.
The Igbos occupy the Eastern part of Nigeria and I must say they are very good and friendly people, you can easily identify them with their language, mode of dress and their food just as seen below

The Hausas occupy the northern part of Nigeria and they are also good people. Most of them are cattle rearer and they move from one place to the other with their sheep.

The yoruba occupy the western part. They can also be identified with the way they dress, their language and lifestyle in general.

Let me move to the last thing I love about my country.
- Our favourable Weather
The third thing I love about my country is the weather God blessed us with in this part of the world. Everything here is just normal, the cold season here is moderate even the season when we experience heat here is moderate as well and I must say that it has in a way of favoured our faming activities.
We plant both in and out of season and we reap bountiful harvest each time we do so.

Having discussed the fascinating things about my country Nigeria,I would love to discuss about the things that I would love to experience change in about my country. They are not good enough for a country like Nigeria, which is known as the giant of Africa. I would even say these things are already thorn in our flesh. Any Nigerian citizen here can relate with the following point I will be discussing.
- Insecurity
Inspite of the wonderful things discussed so far about my dear country, insecurity has turned out to be one of the serious challenge we have been battling with for close to 10 years now. Nigeria use to be very peaceful before we started seeing all manner of security challenges such as kidnapping, killing , insurgencies and all manner of crime you can think of.
Travelling form one part of the country to another now seem very difficult and even considered a dreadful adventure because one might not return from such journey if God is not on ones side. It's funny how citizens now put every iota of trust they have now on God as they carry out their day to day activities since the security system has totally failed.

People are being kidnapping and abducted in broad day light even at gun point. Passengers on transit are being kidnapped on major roads and being released with outrageous amount as ransom. Most Nigerians if not all have given up on the government because it seem they are incapacitated and not up to the task. If am given a chance to make thing right in this country, this is the first thing I will strive to fix. The life of the citizens matter so much
- Unemployment
Another change I would love to see in my country is in the area of Job opportunities and Job creation. It is no more a new that there are inadequate job for graduate and professional in this noble land flowing with milk and honey and this has in a way contributed to the crime committed in this country especially cyber crime popularly called Yahoo Yahoo

Although some of these criminals are lazy and dubious but most of them were pushed into it because they had nothing to fall back on after schooling or running their professional course.
Government has not been able to help in fixing this. Every year we have thousand upon thousand of graduate leaving school and sometimes I get to ask, where are they going to fix these people who are just entering the labour market.
What you eventually hear from our so called leaders is Empowerment. They keep encouraging young people to be self employed and self dependent with little or no resources to support them. I just hope things get better with time. I think I will love to subscribe to being self employed because it is obvious that those we are looking up to really have nothing to offer.
- Economy
The last thing I will love to talk about here is the area of Economy. I really wish things can be better. In the midst of all these things we are faced with,we still have this problem to battle with. I am even tempted to say that If you're a Nigeria, you're are really strong because you have what it takes to survive anywhere in the world. The only thing I don't just like about this our survival ability is the fact that we keep coping with anything even when it is uncomfortable and this is not a good lifestyle.

Inflation is now the order of the day. Our currency has been suffering from the economy heat in that it purchasing power has reduced to a very ridiculous level. Yet we have alot of resources that would have really kept us afloat of any economic situation if it was well managed. If am given an opportunity to effect a change, these three aspect will be my focus before looking into other aspect.

In all of this I still love my country and believe in it so much and that is because I know things will get better very soon. I am an optimist and I can be very positive about things and situation. We will definitely see brighter days soon.
Just like that English saying that goes thus
"There is light at the end of every tunnel.
Indeed this is going to be the situation with us in Nigeria. Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity it air my view as touching my country Nigeria.
Best regards:
@lhorgic♥️
You have portrayed your country very beautifully, the culture, the food, and the weather are the things that fascinates me the most, and you being a brand ambassador of your country I can now say that I now truly want to visit Nigeria once in my lifetime.

The food part always fascinates me when it comes to the Nigerian culture😋
Sadly, My country is lacking so much on the basic things that are needed by her citizens. The rate of unemployment and insecurity is skyrocketing to the highest level and I so wish changes can be made on that soon!

I couldn't agree more with this write up about our beloved country @lhorgic.
Although the country is going through a perilous and difficult phase now but I am inclined to believe that things is going to change for the better soon.
Nigerians are really cool and smart people but the only problem we have is the government and few people that are involve in cyber crime (Yahoo Yahoo)and kidnapping for ransom are the ones soiling the good name of the country, but I know for sure that these bad eggs do not represent the majority of us.

You're are right dear brother. Nigeria has a lot to offer. The country itself has a lot of resources both human and material but it quite unfortunate that with all of these potentials we are still a bit backward because of poor leadership. Thanks for your submission.

Despite how blessed we are, we still need changes in the areas you have mentioned especially unemployment which has led so many to become frustrated in life. I just wish the change will be immediate. Success dear

The rate of insecurity and unemployment in Nigeria is so alarming, and people responsible do not care about the youths it is so cruel but if one should have the opportunity, power and be willing to act on this things it will bring a lot of changes to the country. Possibly every other things will fix it self on its own.

Oh Nigeria! Our next door neighbour. I live talking to Nigerians because they have a lot in common especially with the Rmglish speaking Cameroonians. There are certain Nigerian delicacies that I wish to someday try. You guys have your ways around the kitchen.
It seems we have similar problems too. One thing I'm happy about is that most Nigerians employ themselves or become entrepreneurs to help curb the employment rate. I hope all your problems are seen into.

Those are strong facts about Nigeria and you have said it all.
Nigeria is beautiful, unfortunately those areas you mentioned that require change seems to spoil this beautiful land that has been blessed with so many Natural resouces.
I will love to see those changes too and i will love to see how cyber crime activities would reduce in it's number daily.
Thank you very much for tourchlighting the Giant of Africa😊.
