Music is a hobby that is in great demand by everyone. By playing music, we will feel a very beautiful sensation. Because many of us like genres of music that other people may rarely like.
For example, like me who likes progressive rock music, by carrying the name of the band which this time I will review in my biography.
Who is not familiar with the Dream Theater band, this band has personnel who are quite reliable and very great with the musical instruments they play. In this post, I will discuss their biographies since their establishment until now.
BIOGRAPHY DREAM THEATER
Dream Theater is a progressive rock band, this band was founded in September 1985, at that time the guitar players, John Petrucci and his bassist John Myung, decided to form a band and fill their spare time while studying at Berklee College ousic in Boston.
At that time they met a drummer named Mike Portnoy in one of the practice rooms at Berklee. At that time they managed to get Mike Portnoy to join, then the three of them wanted to fill two empty spots in the band.
Petrucci had asked his bandmate Kevin Moore to become a keyboard player and he agreed and Chris Collins was invited to become a vocalist so that the band was complete.
With 5 members they decided to name the band Majesty, the five of them were waiting in line for tickets for the Rush concert at the Berklee Performance Center while listening to Rush with a boom box. it was at this time that they decided the name Majesty was a really good name for a band and to date it is still good.
But at that time Portnoy, Petrucci and Myung were still struggling with their studies and also with part-time work and teaching. At that time they had to choose between a career in music or ending the band Majesty, but at that time Majesty finally won and the three of them left. from Berklee to concentrate on a music career.
After 2 years the band changed vocalist from Charlie Dominici and met James Labrie who came from Canada through auditions made by the band.
When Labriel joined Dream Theater, they had recorded an album of image and words which catapulted their name to the international ranks with the very hits title song, Pull Me Under and Another Day.
The album Awake is the last album they produced with Kevin Moore who was later replaced by Derek Sherinian for the album Falling into Infinity and in the end Derek Sherinian was also replaced by Jordan Rudess so that this formation has survived to this day, they have also launched the metropolis concept album 2 Scenes From a Memory and the double album Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence.
On June 7, 2005 they launched an album entitled Octavarium, apart from being the eighth studio album also containing eight songs, then on June 5, 2007 they also completed an album entitled Systematic of Chaos which contains 8 songs.
Some of the unique songwriting techniques that Dream Theater have performed have occurred in most recent times. they have started to incorporate small, hidden elements in their music. The most famous characteristic is in the song In the Name of God which is the famous word of Mike Portnoy.
Since then, many Dream Theater enthusiasts have started to try to find small things that usually don't appeal to ordinary enthusiasts. However, in 2008 Mike Portnoy left the band that had raised his name and was replaced by Mike Mangini, the formation has survived to this day.
Hopefully the biography above can add to the knowledge of music for those of you who like the Progressive Rock genre, especially those of you who like bands like Dream Theater.
