"Whether we like it or not, we all come from someplace. And at some point in our lives, we have to make peace with that place".- Jeffrey Stepakoff

There are many British installations in our town. Many of these installations still survive. Standing in front of these installations we go back to the past for a short time. Parbatipur is one of the largest railway workshops in the Northern part of Bangladesh. These British-built railway installations date back to the mid-18th century.

I have taken these pictures from Parbatipur Loco shed. Growing up in Parbatipur town since childhood, I have passed the loco shed workshop many times and seen the buildings from outside but I didn't get any chance to visit this place. A few days ago I had the opportunity to visit the place. I really enjoyed visiting the place.

All the buildings inside are very old and beautiful to look at. There are also many abandoned railway lines inside, as they are many years old. A lot of engine repair work is done in these places. Most of the experienced employees of this workshop are very old. Many employees will retire after a while. For this reason there is going to be a crisis in this important section of the railway.

Moreover, ensuring proper training to create skilled workers is possible only by these experienced employees. Because a lot of work is done here manually in the British system, and these are better understood by the previous employees. There are a total of four locomotive workshops in Bangladesh.

These workshops are one of the most important workshops in our country, as a lot of engine maintenance and repair work is done in these places. These factories have a lot of facilities and many skilled workers work here, I also know a few of them. They are very caring and responsible about their work, because of their hard work our Railway Department still survives. However, there are many areas for improvement in the railway sector.
