An empire is built after enduring the endless sacrifices, adventures and thousands of hardships of the first few men of its founders. After them a few men took that empire to the highest heights, building the empire great. Then the next generation of sultans came and intoxicated themselves with luxury and gradually pushed the empire towards destruction. And just as almost every empire grows great after endless possibilities and thousands of hardships, so too their end is very cruel. As much as I have read the history of empires, I have seen the fall of all of them to be very tragic.
একটা সাম্রাজ্য তার প্রতিষ্ঠাতাদের প্রথম কয়েক পুরুষের অসীম ত্যাগ-তিতিক্ষা, দুঃসাহসিক কর্মকান্ড, হাজার কষ্ট সহ্য করার পর গড়ে উঠে। তাদের পরে কয়েক পুরুষ সেই সাম্রাজ্যকে সর্বোচ্চ উচ্চতায় নিয়ে যায়, সাম্রাজ্যকে মহান করে গড়ে তুলে। অতঃপর তাদের পরবর্তী প্রজন্মের সুলতানরা এসে নিজেদের ভোগ বিলাসিতায় মত্ত করে এবং সাম্রাজ্যকে আস্তে আস্তে ধ্বংসের দিকে ঠেলে দেয়। এবং প্রায় প্রতিটি সাম্রাজ্য যেমন অপার সম্ভাবনা আর হাজারো কষ্টের পরে মহান হয়ে গড়ে উঠে, তেমনি তাদের শেষটা হয় খুবই নির্মম। আমি যতগুলো সাম্রাজ্যের ইতিহাস পরেছি, তাদের সবার পতনই অনেক করুণভাবেই হতে দেখেছি।
Among the empires I have read is the vast Ottoman Sultanate of Anatolia, the Balkan Europe, the Arabian Peninsula, North Africa, the Caucasus and Crimea. The beginning of the Sultanate in the early fourteenth century at the hands of Uthman, a hero from a small group in Anatolia, shook the world at one point and finally broke down in a miserable condition at the beginning of the twentieth century, six hundred years later. The heirs of those who once feared the tyrants of the world were expelled from their homeland after the collapse of this sultanate.
যেসকল সাম্রাজ্যের ইতিহাস আমি পড়েছি তার মধ্যে আনাতোলিয়া, বলকান ইউরোপ, আরব পেনিনসুলা, উত্তর আফ্রিকা, ককেশাস আর ক্রিমিয়া নিয়ে গঠিত সুবিশাল মহান উসমানী সালতানাত তার মধ্যে অন্যতম। চতুর্দশ শতকের শুরুর দিকে আনাতোলিয়ার ছোট এক গোষ্ঠী থেকে উঠে আসা বীর উসমানের হাত ধরে যে সালতানাতের শুরু, সেটা এক সময় সারাবিশ্ব কাঁপিয়ে অবশেষে ছয়শত বছর পর বিংশ শতাব্দীর শুরুতে করুণ অবস্থায় ভেঙ্গে যায়। যাদের ভয়ে একসময় সারা বিশ্বের যেকোন স্থানের অত্যাচারীরা ভয়ে কাঁপতো, সেই তাদের উত্তরাধিকাররা এই সালতানাত ভেঙ্গে যাওয়ার পরে নিজেদের জন্মভূমি থেকেই বিতাড়িত হয়েছিল।
From the founder of the Ottoman Empire, Uthman, to the seventh Ottoman sultan, Muhammad II, seven sultans built this sultanate one by one. The next few generations, especially the sultans who ascended the throne in 1623 until the 4th Murad, built the empire with greatness. But when Sultan Murad IV died in 1640, most of the subsequent sultans were on the one hand incompetent and on the other hand drowned themselves in bog luxury. As a result, the empire began to count down to the fall. Although several sultans tried their best to save the empire until the fall, it was not successful. This great sultanate finally broke down in a miserable state at the beginning of the twentieth century.
উসমানীয় সাম্রাজ্যের প্রতিষ্ঠাতা উসমান থেকে শুরু করে সপ্তম উসমানীয় সুলতান ২য় মুহাম্মদ পর্যন্ত সাতজন সুলতান একটু একটু করে এই সালতানাত গড়ে তুলেছিলেন। তাদের পরের কয়েক প্রজন্ম, বিশেষ করে ১৬২৩ সালে সিংহাসনে বসা সুলতান ৪র্থ মুরাদ পর্যন্ত সুলতানরা এই সাম্রাজ্যকে মহান করে গড়ে তুলেছিলেন। কিন্তু ১৬৪০ সালে সুলতান ৪র্থ মুরাদ ইন্তেকাল করলে পরের সুলতানরা অধিকাংশই একদিকে ছিলেন অদক্ষ, আবার নিজেরা ডুবে গিয়েছিলেন বোগ বিলাসিতায়। ফলে এই সাম্রাজ তখন থেকেই পতনের দিন গুনতে শুরু করে। যদিও পতনের আগ পর্যন্ত বেশ কয়েকজন সুলতান আপ্রাণ চেষ্টা করেছিলেন এই সাম্রাজ্যকে বাঁচানোর, তবে তা সফল হয়নি। অবশেষে বিংশ শতাব্দীর শুরুতে করুণ অবস্থায় ভেঙ্গে যায় এই মহান সালতানাত।
Those who were once the most powerful rulers in the world also fell apart. So we should never be proud of our own power and abundance. Because everyone will fall one time. Thanks.
