The way our body looks is a great source of either high self-esteem or a low one.
A great body boosts confidence, elevates self-esteem, and generally makes the owner feel a lot better about themselves.
Flipping the coin, a not-so-great body is the origin of low self-esteem.
And while everybody wants a great body, not everybody has.
Some of us are stuck with enough fat to hide our greatness.
But that's alright.
We can lose that fat and rise to our greatness.
Here are some weight loss tips that can help you on your journey.
🔶1. Eat a high protein diet.
Eating food high in protein helps your body's metabolism. It reduces your appetite, makes your body lose fat while still maintaining muscle density.
Note: Skipping meals/breakfast doesn't make you lose weight. In fact, in the long term, it makes you gain weight.
🔶2. Drink water before meals.
Drinking water before meals helps you cut down your calorie intake. Excess calorie intake is the major cause of weight gain. If you can cut down on the calorie you take, you are good to go!
🔶3. Avoid sugary drinks.
For students and workers, this is the go-to food when hungry most especially when in school or at the workplace. These sugar drinks contain a lot of calories that the body doesn't need. And instead of discarding it, the body stores it as fat.
🔶4. Good sleep.
Lack of sleep has been associated with increased weight gain.
Shocking isn't it?
Lack of sleep increases stress, glucose intolerance, and insulin resistance. All these are precursors of weight gain and diabetes.
Also, increase awake time means more opportunities to eat, more calorie intake, and irrevocably, more weight gain.
The opposite is the case.
Sleep helps reduce body fat.
🔶5. Exercise.
Exercise burns calories in the body. This is one of the fastest ways to lose weight.
Set up an exercise routine.
You can jog, ride a bicycle, lift weights e.t.c. The secret is to be consistent to achieve your desired weight.
