Aloe Vera is a perennial cactus-like plant widely distributed around the world. Known for its succulent leaves, Aloe has been used throughout history for its medicinal benefit.

In this post, we are going to be looking at six (6) health benefits of Aloe Vera.

🔶1. Aloe Vera has antioxidant properties.

The body metabolism produces harmful substances known as Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS). These substances if left unchecked, destroy the cells of the body.

Antioxidants are the one way in which the body keeps these ROS in check. The antioxidant in Aloe vera reduces the number of ROS thereby prevent damage to the body tissues.

🔶2. Accelerate wound healing.

Applying Aloe vera gel to an open wound has been a history-long practice. It is one of the most commonly known benefits of Aloe vera.

The gel is said to contain substances that increase the production of collagen in the wound. Collagen is an essential protein component for wound healing.

Wounds like burns, cuts, bruises, and scabs have been curtailed with the use of Aloe vera.

🔶3. Lowering Blood Sugar Level.

Aloe vera can be used to treat people with Diabetes Mellitus. Especially type 2.

It has been found to reduce the sugar level of the body, reduce body weight and make the body tissues more responsive to insulin.

🔶4. Improves skin integrity.

Aloe vera is one of the widely used remedies for skin problems. Applied topically, it can help with dry skin, inflammatory acne, and eczema on your face.

🔶5. Prevent tooth decay and heal mouth ulcers.

Another benefit of Aloe vera is preventing tooth decay and mouth ulcers.

Aloe can be used as an alternative to mouth wash. It helps remove the plaques built by bacteria in the mouth and also destroys the bacteria.

Research has shown that it is also useful in healing mouth ulcers. Rubbing Aloe vera on the ulcer reduces the size and pain of the ulcer.

🔶6. Helps with Constipation.

Aloe vera can be used in treating Constipation. The green part of the plant this time, not the gel is made into juice for its laxative property.

Laxatives are substances that stimulate bowel movement and soften the stool for easy excretion. They are used to treat constipation.
