The relevance of a reputation score on a steemit account.

A reputation score is one of the features on steemit that are very important for a steemian. Before relating with you, everyone will first look at your reputation score. There is something that your reputation tells about you on steemit. It is the very first thing that appears and is attached on your username.

The higher your reputation score, the more significant you are on the steemit platform. Your reputation score can briefly tell how much valuable contribution you have made on the steemit platform. You can also think about it as your image on the steemit platform. In other wards your reputation is your image on steemit.

'25' is the default reputation score that every steemian begins with as soon as they have created a steem account. It should be noted that your reputation can either grow or decrease depending on your engagement on the steemit platform.

Upvotes will make your reputation to grow/increase from 25 to 26,27,28,35,50, 60, 70 and so on. Therefore you will need to consistently create valuable and engaging content for the community and the steemit platform which will earn you valuable upvotes hence pushing your reputation score higher.

However, your reputation score can also decrease that is when the community disagrees with your content and this is effected by the downvotes you receive on your articles. The reputation score can therefore decrease like 25,24, 20, 15, 10, -2, -8, -20 and so on.

Note that accounts with huge steempower have a great impact on shifting your reputation score. Once a whale downvotes your content, your reputation score can really decline at bigger rate.

Reasons for the downvotes

  • Plagiarism in your content.
  • Spam content (posting just a picture, or a few sentences, posting irrelevant content in a certain community)
  • Hate speech in your content.
  • Community disagreement with the rewards on your article.

When I had just joined steemit, my reputation score began at 25. It has grown over the years courtesy of my valuable contributions on the steemit platform. My reputation score is currently at '73' and it is continuing to grow as I keep on creating and receiving good upvotes for my quality content.

There are no short cuts on steemit for growing your steemit account's reputation. Growing your account is a journey. It will take time, hard work and consistence in creating valuable content.

With all that said, I wish you a wonderful steem journey as you seek to grow your steemit reputation.

I agree when you said it takes time, hardwork and consistency if you want to grow in this platform.

Yes, that's true. Thanks for the agreement to that. It's also a process that we go through step by step.

Nice you got 73 reps now, same as me too 😊 but there are certain cases where some high reps account getting angry at some other innocent lower/new reps account and smash this poor account negative too..

Yes, that's very true! There are also such cases and I have witnessed some of them in the past. It's therefore important for users with low accounts to stay away from wars of some whales with big reputation accounts.

Thanks for the comment.

@yohan2on muy buena la info que compartiste, muchas Gracias!

Bienvenido. Me alegro que lo haya encontrado valioso. Gracias también por el agradecimiento.
