Week #7 Begins: Draw a Lion 🦁||25 Steem Prize to be won

Hello friends, how are we all doing today? I know we are doing great. This is another great week of drawing. This week, we will be drawing a Lion.

You can see the various steps in drawing this Lion. I must acknowledge that this was a bit difficult for me. But I still went ahead and gave it my best. Maybe, with continous practice, I will perfect in sketching a lion.

All we need are coloured pencils, eraser and a cardboard paper.

First I need to get the shape of the head. Getting the shape is is most important as it defines how the lion looks like. Then also draw the body.

Describe a lion	A lion is of the cat family but a verge large one. It is usually muscular, with deep-chested, round head, ears and a small ruft at the end of its tail. They live in a family setup called the pride the pride may consist of between 1-2 males with many females and their cubs. The male lions serves as protectors of the pride and wards off any predator or other males looking to take over a his pride. They are usually courageous and fearless. The lionesses are tasked with the responsibility of providing food for the pride via hunting.
What qualities does a lion possess?	A lion is known for it courageousness and boldness. When a lion roars, the whole area is shaken, and any prey scampers for its life. It is also known for its strength too. They enjoy lazying around spending most of their day resting and sleeping conserving its energy for hunting in the night. They have very good night vision, that gives them an edge over other animals. They also communicate with various behavioural movements like head rubbing, licking, nuzzling, snarling, etc.the mane of every lion is unique to it, making them appear larger and intimidating. It is also a sign of good health and sexual maturity, which attracts the lionesses.
Have you seen one before? If yes, where?	I have seen a lion before. I have seen it in the zoos two time. First I saw a electrocuted and preserved big male. It was killed because it devoured the man feeding him. The next ones were a male and female yet to becomes fully mature.
Are they important to man?	Yes they are beneficial to man. Lions are on the top of the food chain, with man as it's only predator. It helps in checking the population herbivores like antelopes, etc, thus protecting the grasslands and forest from being over-grazed. They also help in disease control. Since the lions target the weakest prey, that prey may be sick and not healthy. Thus the presence of the lion aids in eliminating sick and unhealthy animals in the herd.

A lion is a symbol of strength and courage. It is used in many national symbols and art works. They are also important in maintaining balance in the ecosystem. Without it, so many animals would be over populated and their would be serious over-grazing in many places. May we continue to appreciate Lion and contribute our quota towards its preservation.
