First we headed to a nearby park where Lexi immediately ran to the flower bed smelling every rose and daisy she came across. It carefully sniffed their petals, as if trying to memorize their scent forever. He then turned his attention to the children playing nearby, watching them run and laugh with interest. It wanted so badly to join them, but it knew it had to stay close to me on a leash.
After the park we decided to walk along a stream. Lexi was mesmerized by the sight of running water and kept trying to reach it, pulling my leash with all her might. When we got to the bridge, it couldn't wait to cross it, jumping and dancing with excitement. As we walked along the footbridge, Lexi looked down at the water, her eyes full of wonder and admiration. Further along the trail we noticed several birds perched on a branch above our heads. It raised its paws from the ground and began to bark gently, hoping to get their attention. However, the birds seemed uninterested in our presence and continued to peck at their seeds nonchalantly. Despite the failed attempt to communicate with her feathered friends, Lexi remained optimistic and continued to sniff around, exploring new smells and sounds.
As we were walking back home, Lexi suddenly stopped and started digging the grass near the curb. Intrigued, I approached and found a small ball hidden in the roots of the plant. Lexi was ecstatic, happily wagging her tail and squealing with joy. It took the ball in its mouth and waved it in the air before deciding it was time to throw it back at me. So we played this simple game of catch and release until dark.
The whole morning was full of adventure and excitement for Lexi and even though it was a long day, we returned home exhausted but completely satisfied. Her eyes were shining with happiness and her tongue was hanging out of one side of her muzzle, a testament to the wonderful walk we shared together. As we drove home, I was overwhelmed by the joy Lexi had brought into my life and vowed to always make time to explore the world together :)
