How do you view discipline?

I view discipline as that one trait that everyone must have in order to set oneself on the right path in life. It goes beyond just rules, regulations, rewards, and punishment. Discipline reminds one that the choices made in life will always lead to actions that may either be favorable or unfavorable and irrespective of the outcome, we are left to bear the consequences.

I therefore view discipline which may come in the form of rewards and punishments as crucial for kids and adults alike (in the form of self-discipline)

Have you been disciplined before or have you ever disciplined someone?

Yes. I've definitely been disciplined before.

It's not a very hard thing to miss when you grow up in an African home like I did. This is because I think Africans take a lot of pride in seeing who has the most disciplined and well-behaved child haha and because of this they don't joke with discipline when growing up. So yes, I received a lot of warnings, beatings, and rewards alike growing up. You know what they say "Spare the rod and spoil the child".

I have also disciplined someone. I have a younger sister and she's much younger than I am with a 7-year age gap she tends to do some silly things at times so I take it upon myself to correct her and must say its not a very easy task as the concept of discipline goes beyond just having to assert authority. In the real sense, the effect of discipline should be to make people recognize and understand certain values and principles.

Do you consider discipline as love or hatred despite how it is given?

I view discipline as an act of love. I see it like a red hot candle, the flames are there to warn someone of what would happen if touched. When discipline is administered with the motif to correct someone, and put them on the right track in life, that is clearly an act of love.

However, it's not unexpected that some people would miss the whole point of discipline and overdo it with anger and hatred. Now this kind of discipline tears down, instead of build up and should be avoided where possible.

Do you think discipline is beneficial to kids?

Without a doubt, discipline is very much needed for kids. "catch them young" they say, habits are best controlled from a young age and if you leave unwanted habits to grow without adequate discipline, they would become like weeds firmly rooted in a beautiful garden. Hard to get rid of without doing harm to other flowers.

It's just like how we had to have training wheels when riding a bicycle for the first time. That's the kind of job discipline does for kids. Guidance and navigation.

your personal advice to those who give discipline and to those who receive it.

My advice to those who issue discipline would be to do so with love and not anger or hatred. To focus on the bigger picture and realize that it is not necessarily about asserting authority and show of power but is more about guidance and inculcating values, enabling one to recognize the impact of one's actions and taking responsibility for them.

For those who are on the receiving side, I would say. If anyone has the time to discipline you, then chances are high that they do love you. So always try to take a step back and learn a thing or two from such events. If it is wrongdoing, try your best to avoid them in the future. There is always an opportunity for growth and maturity embedded in discipline.

So remember, it is more about nurture than fear and authority. So ensure a message is always passed across in your discipline.

Greetings friend...

Catch them young

I see we have the same ideology, it is easy to instill this fundamental virtue in their life at an early age before they grow up regretting and blaming you for not showing them the right from their wrongs.

The importance of being disciplined is beyond anyone's comprehension but it's fundamental for society to function properly and for anyone to achieve their desired success. All the best my friend.

Real true
At the end, the blame for not taking any steps to right their wrongs would often fall back on you who was in the position to discipline them.
Thanks for taking the time to comment

The pleasure is all mine brother. Let's make a discipline society together. So we don't get blamed or blame others.
