Have you ever been embarrassed? tell us the scenario and how you felt.
When I saw this engagement challenge and the first question. I just couldn't help but burst into laughter as I searched my memories for embarrassing moments I'd had as a child. They were manyyyyyy, you know, growing up in an African home usually means having plenty of these moments as your parents would most likely try to get back at you for disrespecting them by embarrassing you in public.
One of such event which I remember vividly(it's surprising as it's been many years back) was when I got into an argument with Mum earlier that day and somehow she started ignoring me all day, it was like she was waiting for the perfect moment to react and she indeed got this window of opportunity.
My kid sister used to have this toy guitar at them and we had a church program so she took it with her to church. Long story short, after the program I realized my sister had left her toy and I went back to get it. In a hurry, I accidentally dropped the toy and almost instantaneously I received a big slap on my face. I was more confused than hurt at that moment and when I finally got myself and looked around, people had begun to gather and try to interfere.

oh boy, I was so so embarrassed. I wished the ground would open up and swallow me in that moment.
Do you think you deserve the embarrassment or it should have been someone else?
Nah
I didn't really deserve the embarrassment as it was a very minor issue that shouldn't have called for such aggression but as I said earlier, it's one of the perks that come with having an African mum among others 😂.
I felt she was frustrated and angry at me and had no valid excuse to react at the moment and so she timed the perfect moment to retaliate and her revenge plan was an embarrassing plot with a spice of hot slap lol. My mum could be really petty at times and as much as it got on my nerves at times, other times it made me see that truly, she was once a child like me and I like to see this vulnerable side of my parents.
It shows that no one is perfect and that we don't completely outgrow our youth which is a good thing.

What have you done to avoid such a scenario from reoccurring?
Well, avoiding that means you have to be a perfect person.
There is really no avoiding such scenarios with Nigerian parents. However, after that day I really didn't speak to her for a long while and eventually, she apologized to me and such events reduced drastically when she understood how hurt I was by them.
However, now the possibility of such an embarrassing event re-occurring is pretty slim as she no longer sees me as a small child and now she finds it easier to just speak her mind whenever I hurt her feelings or do something she doesn't like. So yes, I would say I have gotten to be more mature over the years to avoid such scenarios.
Conclusion
I don't think there's anyone who hasn't ever gotten to experience an embarrassing moment in life. It's just one of those experiences that comes with daily living. I bet some of us even had one this week however in every experience, no matter how embarrassing or sad there is always a lesson to be learnt.
