Hello friends of this community, it is my pleasure to be participating in the contest by steemkidss, about instilling discipline in a child and how is is done in my locality.

What is discipline?

To me discipline is the act of correcting a person from something he or she did wrong, it helps a person to know a right thing from a wrong thing if it is given accurately. For example, if a child should be caught stealing or lying, that child might be punished or be taught the disadvantages and why doing that bad thing is not good, that is called discipline.
Mostly discipline can be used to teach a child how to be obedient.
There is more than one definition of discipline, it can also mean the act of controlling one's self from certain things.

What forms does discipline take in your locality?

The forms of discipline that take place in my locality are as follows:

  • The use of a cane or hand or slippers to beat a child(most common)

  • Denial of certain privileges.

  • Sitting them own to explain to them what they did and why it was wrong (mostly after spanking)

  • Setting rules on certain issues, that will make the kid feel the weight of what was done.

What usually give rise to discipline in your locality?

There is more than one reason that a child an be disciplined.
If the child committed a serious offense like lying, stealing, disrespecting elderly ones, fighting with others outside, it usually result in the disciplining of that child.
Most of those offences like disrespecting can be punishable by spanking, and moral suasions.

How does the kids respond to discipline in your locality

Of course no discipline at all is pleasurable, we don't usually like it when we are being told what to do, so the reaction most times is to be angry of course, we won't be happy at all and they are usually enraged at the person who gave them such instructions.
As a result it takes time before they can even get to understand the reason for such punishment.

What do you think is the best form of discipline to be given to a child?

I think it is totally wrong to use methods like the use of sticks or any other form of physical punishment, like kneeling down or any other form, as it may not really help them see the impact of what they did.
I think it's best to use verbal punishment, like moral suasions, and most at times the raising of voices.

Why is discipline important in a child's life?

Without discipline a child will surely go astray. Discipline helps kids to develop self control and traits that can help them become dependable adults in the future. discipline helps a child to be able to take responsibility for their actions, it guides a child to be responsible in future.

What should be the right motive when discipline is given?

I think that the right motive should be out love an care for the child, as well as to protect the child from dangers, both as a child and as an adult.

in conclusion,

Discipline is a very important part of everyone's life and actions, everyone needs discipline, both children and adults, because it helps in building everyone up.
I really like this contest topics, and hope that i can be able to brig out more like this.

I invite @wizzyboy3 @benton3 and @ngoenyi
