What is the best way to discipline a child by @goodybest

I hoped you and your kiddies are great! We're good from my end and it's my pleasure to air my opinion about child raising and discipline. But first of all let's gets to know what discipline is; note that discipline is not a synonyms of punishment rather it relates to education, training, instruction and correction. It's never connected with cruelty or abuse.

DO YOU HAVE KIDS YOU ARE RAISING?

YES! I'm raising 4kids, 2 teenagers and 2toodler. And I must affirmed that parenting is absolutely not an easy job! But at the same time holding back a warranted discipline makes the tasks more harder! Here are the reasons- Because children will continue to be unruly without discipline and they will exhaust the parents and parents on the other hand will give inconsistent directions which will confused the children.

TELL US THE BEST WAY YOU THINK YOU CAN DISCIPLINE A CHILD:

The responsibility of raising a child was given to parents by almighty God the creator and giver of life, and he did not leave parents on their own to think of how to render proper and balance discipline, rather he gave parents guidance, and principles to follow in other to raised responsible and balance children.

Here are some of the principles parents should follow:

Proverbs 22:15 - foolish bound in the heart of a child but it is the cane (rod) of discipline that removed them. Even though children can be thoughtful, delightful and kind there's tendency of them to do foolish things, so as God's word pointed out disciplined will correct them, acknowledging this fact will help parents to fulfill their responsibility. So as parent I normally correct my child when he's wrong, and used to render proper discipline sometimes I whipped them if it's warranted. I mean disciplining this way will not makes them to think I don't love them and they will not resent me in the future rather it will help my children to learn to accept correction humbly - an important skill they will need as adults.

Ways to discipline your child:

LOVING: Effective discipline is founded on love not anger so parents when facing with certain difficult situation, postpone discipline until you are calm. This way you will be able to think clearly and render proper discipline even when it includes punishment, let it always be motivated by love.

REASONABLE: Parents need to be realistic in their expectations and at the same time not condone or justify the wrong conducts or attitude of their children. Parents take into account your child's age, abilities, limitations and other circumstances, then you will ensure that your discipline is balance and reasonable - administer discipline to a proper degree.

CONSISTENT: Parents needs to be consistent if you have warned your child (Ren) that certain form of discipline will result of they misbehaves, be sure to follow through.

Parents should be loving, consistent and reasonable, they should never be abusive and at the same time they should avoid the other extreme - that of being permissive. Yes children of permissive parent do not have the sense that adult in the house are the ones in charge. So if you don't assume your authority then your child will assume that he is at the helm, and will definitely make wrong choices which will cause them and you grief. Proverbs 17:25, 29:21.

MUST YOU BEAT A CHILD TO DISCIPLINE HIM/HER?

Well discipline doesn't necessarily need beatings though it includes punishment, and punishment comes in various ways for example you can asked him or her to do all the dishes for that day, restraining him or her from going outside to play, ceasing his phone for certain period of time etc but beatings is discipline too because even God gives parents the authority to whipped their children if need be. God's word in proverbs 23: 13 admonished parents to strike their children with cane, that they will not die. So for me beating a child in a proper way is a form of discipline.

WHAT MODE OF DISCIPLINE DID YOUR PARENT USE ON YOU?

My parents follows God's directions in given my siblings and I discipline, they were loving consistent and reasonable. They used to correct us with word of mouth and at times they will punished us by whipping or deprivation of what we so much love for a certain period of time. They love and protect us but at the same time they strike balance, they did not used to rescue us from the consequences of our errors or defending us when we're wrong. I remembered if a teacher or another adult brings our real misconduct to their attention, they used to view those people as their allies, and in doing that they taught us to respect authority including theirs.
My parent loving direction help me and my siblings to grow into a responsible and balance adults. We're always grateful for the way they trained us And I hoped to train my children The same way my parent trained me.

In conclusion i'll advice parents to start disciplining their child(Ren) when they're young, correct them in a loving manner, train them on the way the should go and they will never depart from it! Thanks for reading through! I love you!!
