Cooking has been my hobby for a very long time. I naturally like cooking food as it makes me feel happy. Here in this post, I will be sharing with you the simple way in which I made Egusi soup.
Egusi Soup is one of the most popular soups in Nigeria which is loved by almost everyone as it is a soup that has no tribe. Egusi seed or melon is what it is usually called in Nigeria and before using it to cook it must be ground well. Cooking it is so easy as all you have to get are the needed ingredients to make your Egusi soup a delicious meal.
Ingredients
- Egusi
- Vegetable leaf
- Meat
- Dry fish
- Crayfish
- Pepper
- Onion
- Salt to taste
- Stock cube
Cooking Steps
- Wash and boil the meat, and dry the fish in small water till they are all well done. If the shaki (cow tripe) is done it will begin to curl on itself.
If you have a beef wash add it to the meat etc and continue with your cooking.
When you have cooked the meat, add the stock cube and cook, remove it, and keep it aside.
Pure a small quantity of red oil into your cooking pot, and allow it to get heat, then mix the egusi with small hot water and fry it.
Keep stirring it and add water to it until it gets mod before you can add the meat you have already cooked.
- Add other ingredients and salt to taste and allow to cool for about 5 minutes depending on the quality of water you put in.
- Add vegetable leaf and stir the soup very well to get it mixed before bringing it down from the fire.
