Decline In Discipline And Moral In Nigeria
Discipline and morality is on a fast decline in our nation, and this has been the reason for the continuous increase in the cases of indiscipline and immorality recorded in the nations press house. In fact, it has reached a frightening proportion. The youths tends to disrespect the elders and one often hears of students beating and insulting their teachers. Cultism and other forms of immoral acts are now common in the society. Policemen and women brazenly collect bribes while our government officials embezzle public funds.
The main cause of indiscipline and immorality in our society are not far- fetched. The seed of indiscipline is sown at home when youths begin to disrespect their parents. From there, they grow to disobeying constituted authorities in the society. The high point is when they begin to possess immoral acts at home. To add up, immorality and indiscipline start from home. Nowadays, parents have no time for their children upbringing, parents go out early in the morning and comes back very late at night. Some parents also exhibit other bad characters not worthy of emulation such as drunkard, quarrelsome, etc. Therefore, the home influence is a great factor.
In addition, societal influence is another strong factor causing a decline in the level of indiscipline. The society which is immoral and which encourages indiscipline, cannot produced disciplined youths. Nigerians acquire illegal wealth by crooked means, public officials, more often than not embezzle public funds and it is a common sight to see policemen collecting bribe publicly, they even aid armed robbery and smuggling.
Nevertheless, this ugly situation can be reserved. For indiscipline and immorality to be eradicated completely from our society, then all hands must be on deck. Since indiscipline begins from home, parents have a lot of work to do. They should consider it a priority to train their children. In addition to this, the religious institutions should be ready to do a lot of work to recamp the society. They should educate the youth and the general public at large on the vices of crime and immorality. They must be encouraged to sow the seed of discipline, and good morals in all their dealings.
In Summary, the leaders and elders should be role models by living an exemplary life. Our society can be transformed to a better one when our government officials can exhibit element of discipline and morality, their followers will gladly do so, thereby raising the moral standard in the society. Thank you for the way you address the pressing issues of declining discipline and morality in Nigeria, and also the points you gave are well taken.
Parents should always try to give their children a better upbringing like training them in school, showing them how to work, letting them always respect their elders, they should always be their brother's keeper and also they should never steal anything from anybody, Parents should always spend quality time with their children because it is very important for children. After all, the lack of parental time for children makes them do things wrongly and believe it right.
Parents should always set a good example so that their children may follow it; parents should never teach their children how to look for trouble because it is not good at all; it will affect the children when they grow up.
