This fruit is called monkey kola ( iniya in ibibio dialect of Akwaibiom state). It's outer skin is rough and ugly but inner part which is the edible part is smooth, shiny and orange in color.
From the appearance of this fruit, people would have made an unfair assumptions that the inner part of the fruit will also be ugly and bitter which is not so.
The inner part of the fruit
From the picture, you can see how the inner part of the fruit is. It is smooth, shiny and orange in colour. It's edible and has the same crunchy sound as carrot when eating it. It has it's health benefits too which I'm not here to talk of, you can browse it.
