Greetings to all the lovely people on steemkids! Hope you all are having a good day.

Its Saturday today and that means its kids art day on steemkids. So for today, I’m going to be posting about a very interesting activity for all the kids. I will be teaching you how we can paint using different vegetables. I was introduced to this technique when I was in grade 5 by my art teacher. I remember really enjoying doing this activity back then.

So today I decided to give it a try again, this time with my two and a half year old daughter.

Material required
Paints
Vegetables

In the beginning, everything was going smoothly, I was guiding my daughter throughout regarding which vegetable to dip in which paint and where to put it on the paper.
Half way through however, she couldn’t contain her excitement seeing all the paints. She just wanted to take over the control and so she went all crazy with the paints. Here’s what her artwork looked in the end.

I then realized that this activity isn’t appropriate for her age. It is only suitable for kids above 5 years. So I decided to do something fun with her, I painted her hand while singing the finger family song along (she’s obsessed with it these days :) ) then placed her hand over the paper to get her hand print and this is what it looked like.

Later, I went ahead and painted my own little art work, just to give a clear idea on how this technique works.
I used onion to draw the flowers and lady finger to draw the stems.

With carrot, I drew the grass and the sun.

Finally, I used the bottom part of bell pepper and used it to draw the clouds.

The end result.

You can use any vegetable or fruit that is available and create wonderful artwork with it. It all depends on your creativity.
Hope you enjoyed reading about this activity. It’s even more fun when you do it yourself. So do try it out with your kids.

Thank you!
