As for me and enlightening the kids on various health issues, I will always do my best. Kids need to be rest assured that the community is educating them on the need for self cleanliness as they say "cleanliness is next to godliness.

INTRODUCTION

Tooth decay is a very serious issue in todays world especially the kids. Kids have develop the habit of not brushing their teeth well and think its a minor issue. I hate to break it to the kids but having tooth decay is one of the worst things that can affect the childliness behaviour of kids as it prevents them from different social activities. So this is very important and kids should learn to avoid it and if peradventure, any kid is here, ill drop tips on how to curb it if its not late.

Tooth decay is when a child's teeth isnt clean for whatever reason and the bacterias living in the mouth of the child produces an acid that attacks the enamel of the teeth thereby causing holes to be on the tooth's surface. It is indeed a very bad issue and causes bad breath, low self-esteem and other bad detriments.

CAUSES OF TOOTH DECAY

It is important that kids know what causes tooth decay and ways on preventing them.

  • Not Brushing;

Not brushing the teeth regularly can bring tooth decay as the teeth needs to be refreshed daily. As the body needs bath, so does the teeth need brushing. Kids eat alot of meals and forget to brush. They skip their brushing hours early in the morning and think its going no where, as soon as they realise, it becomes very late and by then the teeth develops holes where it begins to decay.

  • Too much sugary drinks

Too much of sugar is not really good for the gum as it aids in tooth decay. As far as some bacterias in the mouth are concerned, they can combine with sugars and starch being taken in ti form a substance called PLAQUE this help in forming acid which causes tooth decay.

PEOPLE VULNERABLE

Those vulnerable to this are the older people, toddlers or new born babies, children that have little saliva in their mouth (a diseased condition) and those that dont have strong enamels

PREVENTION

Prevention isnt a small task. It requires plenty of seld discipline. They include;

  1. Always brush 2 times a day, morning and night before sleeping. Also get a good tooth paste and brush. There are electric brushes and sugar free gums too use them.

  2. For those that have damaged enamels or tooth decay already, go see a dentist.

  3. Eat much of fluoride containing foods. This is anothet way to help fight tooth decay.. That is what is composed in a toothpaste and it helps to supplement tooth paste in the fight.

  4. Maintain proper hygiene as it leads to godliness.

You have written so we'll, bacteria is the real cause of tooth decay that's why our kids and even adult need to brush at least twice a day, morning and evening.
