My Perspective of family

Family to me means togetherness, love, care, support, tolerance, shelter and above all spirituality.

• Who makes up a family?
• What is the scope of a family?
• Can one become part of a family outside the biological unit?

Let me explain.

You may quickly respond to the first question that the make up of a family unit is the father -mother- child components. That's the nuclear unit having a blood bond. But was this little unit the intent of the Maker, the Originator of the family?

Think of the bickering, domestic violence and abuses prevailing in many biological families whereas some members of such units find succor and peace from non-biological circles.

If that's not the purpose of forming a family, it therefore stands to reason that the make-up of a family goes beyond the biological blood bond relationship. It embraces everyone who is capable and willing to nurture, produce and provide the true meaning of the word family.

I define family as any unit of people who are capable and willing to provide succor, support, care, cohabit in peace, able to tolerate each other, sharing same faith though with varying degrees of spirituality.

Therefore, I am seeing family from a different perspective. Yes because the above definition is the purpose of making humans originally.

Uniqueness of human family

There exist some individual differences inherent to humans. So no two families are the same in terms of needs and circumstances, instead they vary. What works for one family may be against the other. But the necessities of life are the same, it is the application or implementation of those necessities that varies in order to suit them.

The family I belong to

I belong to a unique family that transcends a biological blood bond relationship. This family is so sweet to live with. Although sometimes there may be misunderstandings among us yet we have learnt to

• tolerate each other;
• support one another in times of need;
• share the same faith:
• love one another;

Mine is a very ideal family

I am bold to declare that the family I belong to is the best ever. Yes because it is a make up of people from diverse background, making it a haven of peace. There's genuine love in my family. We care for each other.

☞ I think before I talk to any member of this family so as not to tear the bond uniting us.

From my perspective of what a family is, you can deduce that anyone can be your real family if he or she is capable and willing to exhibit the traits enumerated in this article. You can enjoy good and cordial relationship from someone outside your biological blood bond relationship. One that can provide you with what life needs to survive and thrive.

Expand your horizons, widen out your love, become a family to family-less people. When you do, you can find happiness that comes from giving oneself out to humanity.
