Introduction
Today in my article, I'll showing you how I prepared melon soup from the scratch to the end, kindly be patient with me and read to the end because you are sure going to learn one or more things from it, thank you.
Before I begin my writing I will like to list out the list of items/ingredients that I used in preparing my melon soup
Ingredients
Meat (shaki)
Cowskin (kpomo)
Dried fish
Melon
Pumpkin leaf
Periwinkle (shell)
Crayfish
Fresh Pepper
Curry leaf
Seasoning cube
Salt for taste
Red oil
Onions
The first thing I did was to blend the melon with blender in the house, since I was the one that hand-peeled it.
After I was done blending the melon, I proceeded into preparing every other ingredients. I pound the crayfish and fresh pepper, I washed the periwinkle and the meat, kpomo and fish very clean and I sliced the pumpkin and curry leaves and set them aside before I can start the cooking proper.
Preparation Proper
I put ally washed protein into the cooking pot added seasoning with salt and other cooking agent. I added enough water to cover the shaki (meat) and cook until the meat are soft and tender.
When the meat was soft and done, I then proceeded into frying the melon in a separate pot. I heated red oil on the cooker when it was hot I added chopped onions and fried it till it's brown then I added the blended melon and fried continuously until it becomes fragrant and starts to clump together.
I made sure it was well fried, then in the washer periwinkle and the fried melon into the pot of meat on fire, stir and covered it and allow to cook for about 5 to 10minutes.
After about 5 to 7 minutes I added the pounded crayfish and the sliced pumpkin leaves into the pot, stir it very well and allowed it to simmer for about 5minutes
The last ingredient that I put in the pot was curry leaf, after putting the leaves I stirred it very well, covered the pot and allowed it to simmer for just about 3minutes before I turned off the cooker and my food was ready.
Melon soup popular and delicious food that is commonly enjoyed by Nigerians and Ghanaian. It is made using melon seeds (egusi) as the base ingredient. I've made melon soup one of my best soup and one thing I like about melon soup is that it can be prepare with different types of leaves, like;
Vegetable leaf (pumpkin)
Curry leaf
Ozuza leaf
Waterleaf
Bitter leaf

The soup looks attractive and mouth watering but I do not like eating the soup. I prefer cooking the melon soup with Ogbono. Here we called it egussi soup.

Yes some people do mixed it with ogbono to cook as you said, and the name is egussi soup or melon soup.
