From me to you all is "Happy New Year". It is a thing of great joy to be ushered into this new year, we are all fortunate enough to see the rising of a new dawn.
We are considering the word "welcome" and I will be making my entry based on the stated regulations. Let's get started...
"Welcome" as a word has different meanings and implications depending on the situation it was used or said. It could mean one whose arrival is a cause of joy; received with gladness, admitted willingly to the house, entertainment, or company, e.g. a welcome visitor.
It can also mean to affirm or greet the arrival of someone, or to willingly or gladly accept something. It can equally be a kind reception of a guest or newcomer or that which produces gladness example, a welcome present.
As for instances in which the word "welcome" could be used or said, below are three (3) of such instances:
"Welcome" is often used to greet a guest or visitor indicating a willful acceptance into the home, company, or entertainment.
Whenever a kind gesture is done, the recipient is usually thankful and expresses gratitude to the benefactor. The benefactor in response to the expression of gratitude indicates acceptance hence, 'welcome' plays the role.
'Welcome' is also used to express the joy or gladness to see someone. Just like our children will always run to meet us and express their joy saying welcome mum or welcome dad.
The effect of the word 'welcome' is quite enormous and regardless of the context it was used or said, it promotes happiness, makes one feel regarded, and offers a good sense of belonging.
Regardless of the context where 'welcome' is used, it is a way to return the acceptance of a kind gesture and it that we recognize appreciation given to us thereby making us responsible.
It helps to know if or not our appreciation is heartily accepted, our presence regarded, or valued, or any value placed on us.
When one is gifted, the receiver of the gift could know whether or not the gifter did the gifting in clear heart by the way, tone, and facial expression with which the gifter says 'you're welcome' in response to the 'thank you' from the giftee.
When we defile all odds to attend an occasion and on arrival either the host or an usher walks up to us and says 'You are welcome'. It gives a reasonable level of sense of belonging and of course, a reason to raise our shoulders a little up.
The word 'welcome' when said makes the people involved, the person who said it and the person to whom it is said, feel happy, appreciated, valued, and regarded.
The word 'welcome' should be used as often as possible because it portrays being responsible, makes us ethical, and promotes our moral standards. It comes with a smiling face and therefore shows we are appreciative or reciprocative.
It is a way of showing the value we place on someone, how joyful we are for seeing someone, as well as the level of our receptiveness.
It is therefore important to teach our children to use or say 'welcome' any time necessary. Since it is ethical to say or use 'welcome', we will be doing more good than harm to impact or inculcate such morals in our children.
No sane parent will lag in training the kids to learn ethics and civil standards knowing full well that they are our representatives. If they do well, the glory comes back to us but if the reverse is the case, the blame and shame falls back on us.
The year 2024 is just like every other year that has passed. The difference is that it is an addition to our years and an opportunity to make a difference and try something new unlike what we did in the previous year.
So coming into 2024, I will have to look at my plans and strategies, see what I couldn't do the previous year and what I need to do differently to be able to launch better in achieving my goal which is establishing my own communication business.
This has been my dream over the years and I have kept it alive hence I will strategize and restratagise to ensure that either I achieve it this year or be closer to it than the previous year.
