Greetings to all Steemains

Before I start writing I would love to thank @eliany for arranging this contest. I deem that after participating in this contest one will learn new things about shrimp. I have completed my graduation in Zoology. I am currently studying Fisheries science. I had to draw several types of shrimp many times. This required me not only to draw but also to dissect and separate the various parts of a shrimp. So I am very excited and happy to participate in such a contest. Hope with the help of this participation I could share something related to my study with you all.

About Shrimp

We are all familiar with shrimp. We know it as fish. Everyone from kids to adults loves to eat it. This Shrimp has a lot of popularity in the culinary industry and play a very essential role in the food chain. But today I will write about it in little detail.

Shrimp are crustaceans (a form of shellfish) with elongated bodies and a primarily swimming mode of locomotion – most commonly Caridea and Dendrobranchiata of the decapod order, although some crustaceans outside of this order are referred to as "shrimp". Source

More specifically, The animal kingdom is divided into ten main phyla. Among them, shrimps belong to the group of arthropods.
There are more than 300 species of shrimp in the world.
After completing my drawing I decided to level the parts of this shrimp. The scientific name of my drawn shrimp is Metapenaeus affinis.
Common name is Jinga shrimp.
Hope you understand the parts of a shrimp. If you don’t understand then ask me without hesitation.

Where do they live?

They live in almost all types of water all over the world. Lives in both fresh water and salt water. Sea, river, lake, canal, bill, pond they live everywhere. Some species live in the mud near the seashore, some species hide in the sand or rock crevices. Of the more than 300 species of shrimp, most of them we don't see. Only a few species of shrimp are caught commercially. The remaining species of shrimp live in the ocean.

Do they have a lifestyle, if yes what can we learn from them, what do they eat?

Yes, Shrimp has a lifestyle. Shrimps are found in both salt water and fresh water. Saltwater shrimp live deep in the ocean. During spawning, they move into the estuary and come to the upper level of the water. After spawning, it completes the larval and postlarval stages and returns to the deep sea with the young. They take 30-35 days to complete this process. Freshwater shrimps do the opposite. While spawning, freshwater shrimp move to the ocean and return to the river with the fry. This is how their life cycle continues.

Shrimps are omnivorous. That refers they eat any kind of food. They mostly eat the organic matter of the ocean. They also eat algae, decaying vegetable matter, plants, and animal particles.

Is it easily seen?

Yes, you can see it easily in fish markets as well as restaurants haha. Jokes apart. Freshwater shrimps you can catch and see very easily in the mud when the pond water dries up but you cannot see saltwater shrimps very easily. Saltwater shrimp live in the deep sea except during breeding season.

Have you seen one before? If yes, where?

Yes, I have seen them lots of times. As I am a student of the Department of fisheries. I had to collect different species of shrimp from different places. I saw the shrimp in the sea, pond, the river even culture hatchery in Bangladesh.

Are they important to man, and what significant role do they play in humans life? Talk about their nutritional value

Prawns are beneficial for human health. However, shrimp plays a very important role in people's lives in our country. Currently, a lot of foreign exchange is earned by exporting shrimp. It has been termed the "white gold" of our country. Besides, many people make their living by farming shrimp. Shrimp is a very important resource for the people of our country.

If they are dangerous to man tell us their dangerous part

Cooked shrimp is not harmful to the human body but if one eats raw shrimp it could be causes illness because of bacteria. Another point is if anyone is extremely allergic to shrimp and he eats a huge amount of shrimp it may cause death. So we should be careful about this issue. About their dangerous part, it would be their rostrum cause the rostrum is the hardest external part of a shrimp. One could be injured by this rostrum. It also contains spikes.

Some parts of the country eat it, so tell us have you eaten it before, what's your favorite recipe ?

In our country Bangladesh, it is a common favorite food of all the people. Some people in our country do not eat shrimp because they have allergy issues. I have eaten so many items of this. All recipe with shrimp is my favorite. Such as "Shrimp with Coconut milk, fried shrimp, Mashed Shrimp, Shrimp soup, and many more.
