Steemkids Community Weekly Contest #6/Worst Childhood Chores

Hello Steemkids ! And good day my friends! I went backward with my childhood memories to remember those chores at home which I hated most.

Number 1
Cooking with firewood. I really cried a lot with this. I cannot make a fire and wondered why the grown ups could do it for two minutes. I really hated when I almost lost all the air inside of me just to blow on that smoky fire. And it would take me almost two hours to cook my rice. And even result in an uncooked rice.
But later on I learned making a fire. And I felt proud when I am on my high school days during our girls scout camping. Our troops were the first to cook our meals. My tears worth it.

Number 2
Washing the dishes.
Oh how i hated washing those pile of plates because I have to go to the well to get water before I wash the plates. And my playmates would leave me to climb and get onto the mango tree. I cannot get the best mango because I would be late in climbing. Or I could not get one anymore.
I thought why my mother always told me to wash the dishes instead of my brother. Now its time for my sons to learn to do the dishes.

Number 3
Taking out malunggay leaves for our fish or chicken tinola. Usually here in our country Philippines, we love garnishing our chicken or fish soup with this green leaves. It is rich in vitamins and minerals and it is a very healthy leafy vegetable.
But its leaves are many and tiny. We have to separate it from its stalk. And as a little girl I found it time consuming. It will lessen my time to play , so I will not take the task seriously. Then during meals my father would ask who did the task of preparing the malunggay leaves. And he would show yhose tiny malunggay stalks floated in soup.
Now that I am grown , Since I love to have malunggay on my soup, I will do it myself.

Though I hated this chores before, it teaches me lessons of survival in life. Those were simple things that were learned but it defines our character. To be patient in the little things we do leads us to a learning that we will also pass on to our kids.
Though this may be difficult for now . Someday they will appreciate this things and they will be proud of it.
