Salut, Steemkids et kids' lovers!
It is yet another day again and I will be addressing one very interesting issue. I love Steemkids community for a lot of reasons and one thing that keeps standing out is their ability to come up with contests that help us identify some important things we should imbibe and inculcate to make our world better. You are doing a great job @steemkidss and @ngoenyi.

This write-up is concerned with compassion to humans as I understand that compassion could be shown to animals too(this is still based on an individual's views or society).

What is compassion?

It is an emotion that is deeper than just showing kindness. It involves mercy, empathy, love and care.

Who can show it and why?

Every civilized society expects its members to be courteous and sensitive to the needs of others. This is because the absence of compassion only brings about brutality and cruelty.

Have you shown someone compassion, how did you do that and how did the recipient feel?

During my reign as Little Miss Divine Grace 2014, I took up a pet project which included giving out packs of noodles to children, buying books and other stationery for them. I had a case where three kids walked up to me on different occasions to request for exercise books. I had to give out the spare books that had remained from the ones my parents had gotten for us. I also had to buy some more since the ones we had left were not enough. Excitement was an understatement of what those children felt.

Has anyone shown you compassion before and how did you feel when it was shown to you?

Several times. Once, while trying to find a conducive hotel to lounge at, a pastor from the Methodist Church Nigeria, Wesley cathedral volunteered to pay for our accommodation. He asked the church driver to drive us to the place he had recommended and also gave me a substantial amount of money. I was excited about this act as I never expected it.

Express your compassion to someone in a practical way.

I think this contest came at right time. I had thought of helping these kids so they can start school this term. These girls are 2 and 6 respectively. I wish that I had enough money to support their parents so they can start schooling this term. I wish to discover a way out.

Do you think compassion is a virtue that should be cultivated by all and be demonstrated practically?

Yes. Compassion is a virtue that is universal.

How did you learn to show compassion and where?

It has always been in my nature to give out clothes, picturebooks, novels and textbooks that are in very good condition to children who lack them at the moment. I think I was influenced by my father because I know him to be a very generous man.

How will the world look like if everyone cultivates this quality?

Compassion makes the world a better place because, in the process of helping others, we help ourselves.

It is worthy to note that,

“A kind gesture can reach a wound that only compassion can heal.”
