MY CHILDHOOD DREAMS

The world came alive with just one dream...

Hello @Ngoenyi and @steemkids community. Here is my story.

Becoming great has always been my dream. I was always daydreaming that I could drift away into my world of fantasy in the middle of an activity and was always dragged out of my reverie by the concerned voice of my brother. According to him, the ‘dreamy look’ on my face caught his attention. I can't forget the number of times I told him not to look at my face because no one in the house paid attention to it except him — my fastidious brother. Lol.

But those fantasies were not mere daydreams. Just like every other growing child, I had lot of aspirations and ambitions. Although some were absurd—you know all those crazy imaginations that can never happen—the others could be attained but they required dedication and determination. I had always wanted to be a writer. Overtime, I became intrigued by movies and also desired to become a scriptwriter one day. I began by writing short stories and then took part in essay competitions. As a way of perfecting my writing skills, I applied to study English literature at the University of Uyo. This way, I was not only exposed to writing but acting as well.

You see, I was also passionate about modeling. I'm tall, slim, very photogenic and beautiful and this were the important things I thought every model required to pursue a modeling career. My desire to go into modeling spurred up after winning a crown in a pageant contest organized by my local church in 2014. I never really had the chance until last year when I went for a pageantry audition. But you know there is always a thin line between imagination and reality. I happened to be one of the few contestants who passed the audition, however, I couldn't continue for some reason. I've never regretted the experience either and I'm glad that I could make it to that stage.

I might not be a model or that best selling author yet, but I'm glad that I've been able to recognize that having a dream is pivotal but the most important things ever human must have include determination and dedication.
