Good day everyone on this platform. I'm glad to be partaking in this contest regarding our funny, exciting and annoying moments. I'll be writing about my moments which was both funny, exciting and annoying.

It was on a rainy day in school, this happened when i was in ss3 class. My friends and I had a disagreement regarding who gets to present or read news in the press club. Earlier I had stated my opinion that I'm not interested in doing anything of that sort. Most members refused as well, leaving the group leaders which were my classmates as president and vice president with nothing to fall back too.

The news had to be presented the following day to them, so they wrote people's names randomly and also included mine. Of course they didn't have my consent to do that, my mind was still firm on not presenting the news on Friday which was the next day. I concluded they couldn't force me against my wishes and went to ask them about it.

School was over, so most students went home while others stayed behind to attend the fellowship. A friend of mine attended the fellowship as well. So while waiting for her to be done so we could go together, I went to see the president and the vice president of the group, stating my reasons for not wanting to present news the next day during the school's devotion.

They didn't take me seriously and began laughing saying there's nothing that can be done about it, as I'll be reading the news alongside with the other two students. They claimed to be submitting it soon to the teacher in charge of the press club. I really didn't want to read the news as I had been doing so most times during the week, and the weeks before.

As a teenager, I couldn't let that slide so I got impulsive and pursued them. It was a very rainy day which made the gutter filled with water. So while running around the roadside of our school with my lens inside my shirt pocket, my lens slipped off and fell into the gutter with a lot of dirty water inside it.

At that moment I felt so devastated, so terrible because I knew what my parents will do to me. They had gotten me other lenses before which broke, leaving them with the believe that I'm careless. After they had bought that new one for me, they warned me intensely, saying that if it breaks again I won't be getting a new one from them anytime soon. I began calculating when they bought it and realised it wasn't up to 4 months since they bought it.

With all those thoughts in mind I removed my shoes and got into the gutter to fetch out the glasses. It was a very embarrassing moment of my life but I had no choice. It was either I walked away and face what my parents will do to me and be without my lens till they decide to get me a new one or get the lens at that moment and spare myself of my parent's anger and disappointment.

The water wasn't clear so I had to use my hands to check for the glasses. Thankfully I found it and tried coming outside, looking inside the gutter again I felt so disgusted and angry at those two for causing me to go through all that. On coming out my classmates were there, all laughing at me and avoiding me like some plague playfully just to piss me off.

I ignored them while they still laughed and walked down to the school tap to wash myself of the dirtiness. Interestingly my siblings were there too and were laughing as well. When I got to the school barefooted with my shoes in my hand looking all messed up, I felt so ashamed. Ignoring the gazes of Junior students who were wondering what had happened to me and curious about the whole thing, i walked down to the tap beside the canteen and washed myself.

I felt so dirty and had to ask the canteen woman to borrow me her soap, so I could use it in watching my hands and legs. She gave it to me, something I was so grateful to her about, as I could wash off most dirt and manage till I get home to have a proper bath. When I was done washing up myself, I went outside and saw that the fellowship was over.

Most of my classmates came out and asked what the problem was, my other classmates present at the scene when it happened began narrating how everything happened. They made sure it was told very interestingly to make all of them laugh. I even began laughing as well thinking of all that went on earlier, it was a very annoying experience but at the same time funny.

While going home, walking with about 6 of my classmates and siblings, the talk wasn't ending anytime soon. They were having so much fun recounting what had happened. After all that had happened, I made sure to force those two to cancel my name from the list which they obliged to quickly because they saw how annoyed I was about what they had caused me earlier.

Thinking back I thought about what would have happened if my parents or relatives had caught me running on the road or entering the gutter and coming out. I can imagine how terrible everything would have turned out. I would have been taught the greatest lesson of my life. But thankfully no one who knew me saw me during that very embarrassing moment of my life.

Above everything else I was so happy and grateful over the fact that I was able to get my lens and didn't return without it to face my disappointed parents. Although it took a while before my classmates forgot about me entering the gutter, things were calm at home. Everything that happened that afternoon turned out to be both a funny, excited and annoying experience in my life.
