Hello friends,
I'm wasa2020 from Nigeria and I'm happy to participate in this contest organised by @simonnwigwe, which talks about how I prepare for an examination. I will be sharing a few ideas of mine below using the contest tips.

How do you prepare for an examination?

Exams are one thing that everyone prepares for because if you fail to prepare then you have prepared to fail. In my case, I prepare for exams by reading through my books and making more research on topics that are difficult so that I can get a better understanding of the topic.

I always read at night time in school because if I stay at home most time I sleep off. So during the exams period, after the daily activities, I go to school at night time and read the whole night. They call it here TDB (Till day break).

Before my night readings, I normally go out for daily readings as well. So I also ensure I go out during the day into the bush or any place that is quiet and far from my home so that I can be able to read properly.

Do you have any trick that you have developed over time that works perfectly for you?

Yes, I have a trick I have developed over time that is working perfectly for me. Currently, when reading for exams, I always ensure that I summarise the entire work on a piece of paper so that I don't have to see the bulky handout and get scared.

When you see the things you are about to read as small, then you will force yourself to finish it but when it is large or big, you will get scared and tired of reading through it. So I advise everyone to always use a summary for their readings instead of the entire book or handout.

When is your favourite time to study for an examination and why?

I study immediately after I receive the lecture from the different teachers. This has helped me so much that I don't have to compile a lot of things at the end. As the lectures are coming, you continue reading and being updated and when it comes to exams you will only revise.

During exams, my favourite time for reading is at night. So I read well during the night period. The night is a period when a lot of people go to rest and the environment is calmer. This helps in the quick assimilation of what ever you are reading.

Do you feel scared when going in for exams? How have you been able to control or fight this feeling?

Yes, I feel very scared when going into exams most especially exams that I didn't study for. So the best way to control all of these is to ensure you study very well. When I go into exams despite my fear, I try as much as I can to start answering questions once I know better.

Just encourage yourself and tell yourself you can do it. Always start with the questions you know better in that way you don't need to be scared again.

What advice do you have to give to those who still find it difficult to prepare for an exam?

There is no magic when it comes to passing an exam. I will always advise people to read ahead of time instead of reading only during the period of exams. This helps you to cover more ground and take away fear when the exams are approaching.

The main reason why people get scared of exams is that they didn't prepare for them once you prepare very well for exams, you will be confident enough to go into the exams knowing fully well that you are well equipped.

I want to invite my friends to join the contest @dave-hanny, @ruthjoe and @msharif
