God of War [a] is an exploration action video game developed by Santa Monica Studio and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE). Released on April 20, 2018, for PlayStation 4, the game is the eighth installment of the God of War series, eighth chronologically, and is a sequel to 2010's God of War III.Unlike previous games, which were usually based on Greek mythology, This game is based on Norse mythology. The main protagonist, Kratos, the former Greek God of War, and his son Atreus. After the death of Kratos 'second wife who is Atreus' mother, they travel to fulfill his promise and spread the ashes of his corpse on the highest peaks of the nine worlds. Kratos keeps his troubled past a secret from Atreus, who doesn't know his god's abilities. Along their journey, they encounter monsters and gods from the Nordic world.
