Retro Review - Saint Sword

I haven't published for more than a month and this time it hasn't been due to external factors that haven't allowed me to finish the posts I had planned to do, from health problems to family problems, although I won't talk about that in this post (and in any other post), I just wanted to clarify things a little bit. And back to the main topic, the game I will talk about today is one of those games that went so unnoticed that not many people remember it or maybe some people have played it, but because it was not so innovative or proposed something interesting in its gameplay or any of its other elements, it is one of those forgotten games in history, although in general terms it is a "decent" game that entertains at least a little.

Today's Retro Review is about: Saint Sword.

The game starts by showing you a huge text explaining the history and the reason for the current events, but a huge text that to be honest, I barely read the first two lines, but basically: In Saint Sword we control Macress a titan whose mission is to travel to the to prevent a world domination. And that's it, we don't need to know more.

In terms of graphics is not the best that can be found in the catalog of the Mega Drive, however it is not a game that is visually unpleasant, in fact, presents fairly decent designs and in some cases with a fairly good definition for the time when this game came out. Personally I consider that what stands out most in terms of character design are the enemies, because throughout this adventure we will find different types of enemies, having many of them, very good designs, taking into account that it is not a game that stands out too much for its graphical aspect, but despite this they manage to have a level of variety, graphic strength and very decent designs.

The scenarios also fulfill their purpose very well, there are several types of scenarios each with a different theme and with their respective elements, with good details and visually pleasing. As for mobility and fluidity of movement, it is not a game that has a very good set of animations, our character presents quite archaic animations and perhaps could have been done better.

The sound aspect is everything you would expect from a game of this style. The music in general is quite good, they fulfill their purpose very well and I think that among all the aspects of this game, I think this is the best element that we can find.

Saint Sword is a pretty basic platform action game, but it has a very interesting element. In general terms and as is customary in games of this style, we must advance in a series of scenarios full of enemies which we must defeat and eliminate, thanks to its simple and very intuitive controls is a game that despite its simplicity is quite entertaining.

Our main character, which is equipped with an armor very similar to that of the character of Saint Seiya, changes throughout this adventure, and can be improved by means of power ups that we will obtain through certain enemies. In addition to this, our protagonist has some transformations and abilities such as transforming into a centaur or having wings that will allow us to move around the stage more fluidly.

Saint Sword is not a game that will change your life and I am sure it is not anyone's favorite game, but it is one of those games that entertains and that is worth playing for a small moment of fun.
