I bought this game in the late November 2020 since I heard AC Unity was very buggy so I decided to wait out for a while. So far, I haven't experienced any bugs or anything related to that, I have to say that AC Unity is such a beautiful game with new controls that gives you the opportunity to act with stealth unlike the previous AC games, parkour system was VERY awesome and VERY fluid, this game was way ahead of its time. But not all games are perfect, there is bound to be 1 problem in every game. For AC Unity, it's the story but I'll get to that later. To me, it felt very repetitive during the story missions, it's like "sneak in and assassinate this person" every time. Yes
YesYes, there are some unique missions here and there but the majority of it is just the classic sneak->assassinate. But what I really like is you don't have to have a stealthy playstyle, you can choose what type of assassin you want to be. If you're not good at stealth, you can be an enforcer or a heavy wielder, you can be a ranged backup assassin. It all depends on you after all. The thing that got me hyped was the co-op missions, you can play with friends and it will feel much better and more in-depth than just playing by yourself, it makes you feel like a real assassin. But some people might not take the mission seriously but that's not the point. The
The combat system is very good in my opinion, it's better than the counter kill mechanic in the previous games, the new combat system really makes you think about what to do and gives you some challenge. But you can't just rush in, you'll have to upgrade your equipment to give yourself an easier challenge. The graphics are just out of this world for a 2015 game, Ubisoft did a very good job on the graphics. Ah yes, the characters. In my opinion, Ubisoft tried to create another Ezio using Arno. They tried to make Arno care-free, charismatic, funny and made him wiser at the end of the story just like Ezio. The characters had very little development towards the players because some just randomly appear for a short bit then disappears, the only real character development they had was Elise and Arno but the development wasn't that deep at all. The story is pretty dull and wasn't interesting, I appreciate the opportunity for us to play as the main character before becoming an assassin just like any other AC games except AC1, Rogue, and Freedom Cry but AC Unity's story feels like it's being forced down our throats. I really like the opportunity to use smoke bombs, Phantom Blades, and other distractive/killing equipment since it really gives the players a more in-depth feeling of the game while playing. If AC Unity had a better story and better character development, it would have been way better than it is now. Overall, gameplay and mechanics are beautiful but the story is a let-down. I'm giving it a strong 8.5/10.
