Drugwars is a steem-based multiplayer game were you get rewarded with DrugWars Dollars (DWD), tokens that are tradeable in steem-engine.
Players take the role of crime lords that recruit units and buildings, waging war to other crime lords for taking control of Drugs, Alcohol and Weapon resources. They can also engage in JOBS, combat encounters with NPCs that award many resources. Some crime lords may band together in a gang to enjoy better protection and do special GANG JOBs.
Currently the implementation of GANG JOBs is lacking, with the main problem being that GANG JOBS can be performed by a single player. Here I will present an idea that might be interesting to the game's developer team.
MUSTER!
Firstly, instead of a player sending his army to fight the NPCs directly, a MUSTERING is used. Each player of a gang may send an army to take part in the job. Combat does not start immediately; instead, the armies of each player are mustered until a requirement is met.Armies send to the MUSTERING are commited to the job until it is completed or the job timer ends (might be from 24h to 48h according to the job's level). These armies are not available to the player sending them while MUSTERING for a job. This means that the player sending an army to a GANG JOB for the special rewards, leaves his bases with weakened defenses, which makes sense beacuse taking high risks in-game should lead to high rewards.
REQUIREMENTS
So, armies from players keep gathering until the job requirements are met. The requirements can be one or several of these below:- number of players sending armies (e.g. at least 8 players must participate)
- number of different unit types in the mustered army (e.g. at least 6 different unit types)
- number of units of one or more types (e.g. at least 1000 mercenaries & 100 choppers).
- total number of SUPPLY POINTS (a metric used in-game, showing the power of an army).
- the maximum SUPPLY points each player may send (=TOTAL SUPPLY REQUIRED/NUMBER OF PLAYERS REQUIRED). This will prevent a single player from send a huge army, complimented by just 1 SPY from several other players (or alts).
The values of the requirements should make sense according to the GANG JOB's level. A 1st level gang job might only require 3 players with small armies, but the higher the level (and the rewards), the more difficult the requirements should be.
When the requirements are met, the MUSTERING completes and combat is resolved as normal.
RESOLUTION
If the players' army wins the fight, they take the rewards. The resources are split among the players that send armies according to their contribution to the MUSTERING. This can be calculated by the SUPPLY points of each player's army compared to the total SUPPLY of the mustered army.In this way, we have the following benefits:
- Players can no longer do GANG JOBS on their own, and exploit the feature.
- Rewards are distributed according to how much each player participates. Players that do not take part in a GANG JOB, no longer get rewards from it.
- Requires a small level of co-ordination between gang members, for more engaging gameplay.
- The multiplayer aspect of the game is boosted, making stronger ties within the gang. It now feels like you are actually part of something bigger.
- Gives a window of opportunity to enemies to make a move against the players that send armies to the GANG JOB. This makes the game more interactive and strategic. Also, high risk --> high reward.
I'd like to read comments from DRUG WARS players and hopefully @hightouch. Thanks for reading! If this is successful, more proposals will follow. There are so many ways to make this an awesome game!
Thanks for this interesting suggestion @nyarlathotep.
I already had something like this in mind few weeks/months ago and I think to implement this for gang jobs in the coming weeks!
Will keep you updated as soon as I made it!
