Did you visit arcades in the 80s and 90s? Remember how, even in the early days of gaming racing was something that was there? Once 3D was capable of a quality experience racing games hardly looked back. From early 3D attempts like Pole Position I and II to overhead affairs like Rally X to Sega putting their foot down in the genre with Super Hang-On and later Virtua Racing, racing was a staple of arcades. One company is working to remind gamers how much fun an arcade racer can be with Super Retro GP.
Looks Amazing but There Are Concerns
I am hesitant to include this considering this was supposed to be a news article, not a preview. To not point it out now feels like it might be a disservice to fans excited about this game.
The sense of speed is not there. I get a serious “Need for Speed on 3DO” vibe from the speed presented in Super Retro GP. That is not necessarily bad, it just means it doesn’t look like you are traveling at 150+ miles per hour.
I get in more pulled out views this being nearly impossible to replicate but when the video switches to the driver/hood view, it should be super evident. It is not.

While Super Retro GP is probably not going pick up any licenses for real world cars/drivers/brands, it really doesn’t need them. This style of game is not about that stuff, it is more about get in the car and floor it, maybe hit the brakes from time to time.
From the footage available, Super Retro GP seems to be on the right track.
If you must have F1 licenses and cars and such and tons of fine tuning for your car, Super Retro GP may not be for you.
Coming to all major platforms - PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, Xbox, Steam, etc. Wishlist is available, as well as an early demo on Steam.
