If Minecraft Was Released on the Sega Dreamcast It Might Have Looked Like This

Seeing newer games ported to older hardware is nothing new for retrogaming fans. We see it all the time. It is a wonderful event every time too. This one is a little different, this is not exactly Minecraft itself being ported to the Sega Dreamcast. It is a similar game, ClassiCube, running on a Sega Dreamcast though. For me, it is close enough to be thoroughly impressed (and it is not likely Microsoft would make an official port anyhow).

Sandbox in Block Land Fans Unite

ClassiCube is free and available on many platforms, one such platform happens to be the Sega Dreamcast. Now, before you get your hopes up, this is not perfect, there are some concessions made – mostly frame rate, and without the proper accessories, can be tough to play.

According to RetroGameForce on YouTube, if you are playing ClassiCube on Dreamcast with a controller then you are in for a rough experience. They recommend a keyboard and mouse, expensive accessories available on eBay (affiliate link). The pair will set you back well over $100 according to current prices for these accessories.

No one said being a retrogaming fan was cheap.

Minecraft released in 2011, the Sega Dreamcast died around the same time World Championship Wrestling (WCW) did around 2001/2002 depending on your local retail stores.

I believe ClassiCube was initially released sometime in 2017.

What to Expect from ClassiCube on Sega Dreamcast

Fans of Minecraft know how this is going to go. Everyone else, settle in for a moment. You are in a world built of blocks of different types. You can dig, cut trees down, etc and craft other things in the game. I am not sure of the world size for ClassiCube, but it appears to be decently sized – I doubt anyone is going to be recreating the Enterprise or Death Star in this version, but I could be wrong.

Are there any Minecraft fans out there? Still rocking a Dreamcast? If so, here you go, ClassiCube is free to download for a plethora of platforms.
