Late night drunken PS store purchases! Hooray!

So last night I barely remember the latter parts of my evening. It involved starting drinking early because I finished my work at an alarming pace and felt as though I deserved a reward or 15 and that is exactly what I did.

I went by a pizza place on the way home where I know the owner and he gave me another beer on the house that I definitely did not need. It is a shame because this friend of mine is a craft beer type so the beverage he gave me was almost certainly not appreciated as much as it should have been and its important flavors were definitely wasted on someone that likely had trouble even standing up at that point.

I got home and like I always do right before I finally decide to give in to sleep I fired up the PS4.

Realizing very quickly that I do not have the mental dexterity to play even Heavy Rain I instead decided to pop over the to the Playstation store to see what sort of mental specials they had on offer.

You had me at 70%

A lot of my game purchase decisions are made under this exact pretense. I am not an early adopter of any games and I didn't even have Witcher 3 until they were practically giving it away. I am also one of the few people in existence that doesn't think that is the best game ever made and this gets me into some heated troll arguments on gaming forums. Sorry, but I just don't think it is awesome folks!

Anyway, when I woke up today I remembered that I had purchased a few games but I had no recollection of what they were. Thankfully, when I booted up the system to see what sort of drunken shenanigans I got up to I am not terribly upset with my decisions.

Rayman Legends

For this title I remember being on the fence about whether I was going to get it or not because I have already played this game a number of times on my PC. However, I stole that game using a torrent site and I remember that I kind of felt bad about doing that because sometimes, the games I "stole" were so excellent that I feel as though it is kind of a disservice to the industry that I didn't pay at least something for it.

I only paid $5 for this game and I don't even remember if I completed it years ago or not. I think that Origins is a better game than Legends but for some reason the PS store doesn't have that game in there at all. Anyone know what that is? I guess because it was released for the PS3 but seriously, that game could sell on PS4 even if they didn't make any adjustments to it. Oh well.

Battle Chasers: Nightwar

This choice is a little bit more of a drunken mystery to me as to why I decided to get it. I can only presume that I was impressed by the trailer and today when I looked at the trailer again I saw THQ:Nordic pop up and this is a good sign. THQ: Nordic is one of those smaller development companies that tends to make games that are mostly decent or above. There are a few exceptions to this rule as far as they are concerned but normally this is because they attempt to tackle projects that are a bit too ambitious for their small team. The one title I am thinking of is Fade to Silence which was such a disappointment on many levels, the main reason being that the game is broken in a lot of ways.

However, they are also the team behind the Darksiders games and those are some of my favorite games on any platform ever.

The good news about my drunken gaming choices is that I rarely spend more than $20 on these tirades and since I easily spent 3x that much in my drunken escapades last night it can be said that it wasn't the game purchases that was the bad choice I made yesterday, but rather the inebriation that lead to it.
