This style of gaming was all the rage back in the day and even though they were really tough considering that early on we didn't have the internet to help us you kind of had to just mess with everything until you figured it out. It also kind of served as a "teambuilding" exercise for me and my friends who all had to put our heads together to advance in the game. There are still games like this now I would imagine, but they aren't very popular. Back in the day though, I used to love unboxing my 15, 1.4Mb floppies and installing the game :)

True before with this type of games it was quite common to get stuck in some area, without internet and having to solve some magazines that gave you clues on how to solve certain puzzles was what gave life to this type of games, in addition to the classic of solving it among a group of friends. Good times
